About me and my therapy practice
If you're reading this, chances are that you need some help and support with something that's going on in your life. I understand that feeling.
Maybe you're looking to make some sense of a specific situation; maybe you want to address something in your past and understand how it's affecting you now; perhaps you want to make changes in your life but feel stuck; or maybe you're simply looking for a place to be listened to and fully understood. Whatever it is, I’ll be there for you with compassion, understanding, and zero judgement.
I'm Tim, a therapist and therapeutic coach, and I believe that the most meaningful and positive therapy is about looking at what needs attention in your life today, working out what belongs to the past, and learning techniques that can help you to move differently into the future, and into a happier and more confident life.
In therapy I'll offer you a private space to talk confidentially, where you can focus on how you feel, what you want, and what you need. This is a place where you can step outside of your relationships, your work, and other people’s expectations of you, and explore who you really are and what you really want.
As part of my therapy, I can offer you therapeutic coaching, which tends to be more forward-looking, more focused on moving towards a particular goal or overcoming a particular issue, but it still leaves room for emotion, exploration and understanding, so I find that it works really well alongside more traditional talking therapy.
I know from experience that finding the right therapist really matters; the relationship you have with your therapist is unlike any other in your life, so if you're curious about working with me, let's have a no-pressure, initial conversation where you can ask questions, get a sense of how I work and decide whether it feels like a good fit.
Practice description
I work collaboratively and actively, so I won't just sit silently in a chair, occasionally asking how something makes you feel. We’ll explore what’s happening now, what's come before, and what you would like to change moving forward.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than two decades working in the creative industries, so I understand the uncertainty, the impact on relationships, and the blurred boundaries that can all come with stressful and demanding jobs and careers.
I work with people from all kinds of backgrounds and stages of life, so if you think we might work well together, please do reach out and say hello.
My first session
I offer new clients a free 20-minute online video consultation. It’s a great opportunity to ask me any questions you might have, to tell me about what brings you to therapy and to get a sense of how I work. We can feel whether we might be a good fit, with no obligation to book a full session afterwards.
