About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and work with adults and young people experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
As a counsellor I feel the most important thing is that you, the client are at the centre of the work and firmly believe that you are the expert on your own life. When life becomes difficult, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed, stuck or disconnected. My aim is to provide a warm, compassionate and confidential space where you feel heard, understood and able to explore your experiences without judgement.
I work using a combination of person-centred and psychodynamic approaches, taking time to understand your individual needs and tailoring our sessions accordingly. I believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship is fundamental to the process, providing the safety to explore difficult emotions, make sense of painful experiences and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.
My belief is that counselling is a collaborative process. We will work together to explore what you choose to bring to our sessions at a pace that feels right to you.
I am fully insured and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
Practice description
I have experience supporting people affected by betrayal trauma, particularly partners working to rebuild trust, confidence and emotional safety. I am a facilitator for an Emotional Support and Wellbeing Group and a Betrayal Trauma Support Group. I also have extensive experience supporting people living with Parkinson’s disease, recognising the importance of emotional and psychological support alongside the challenges of a long-term condition.
My work extends to a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, health anxiety, low self-esteem, phobias and persistent negative thought patterns. Where appropriate, I integrate counselling with my training in medical hypnotherapy, EFT and mindfulness to help you find approaches that best suit your individual needs.
My first session
If you are considering working with me, I offer a free 15-minute telephone call to give us an opportunity to talk about what you are looking for support with and to see whether working together feels right to you.
If you decide to go ahead, our first counselling session will be charged at my usual rate. Before we begin I will send you a counselling agreement to read and sign, which explains how I work and what you can expect from our sessions.
There is no obligation to continue counselling beyond our first session. It is important that you feel comfortable and that working together feels right for you.
