About me and my therapy practice
If you're reading this, you're probably considering therapy for a reason. You may know quite clearly what that reason is, or you may simply have a sense that something isn't right, that you're feeling stuck, or that something in your life needs to change.
You may be experiencing anxiety or depression, going through loss or change, facing difficulties in your relationships, or finding yourself repeating patterns you don't fully understand. Perhaps there is an inner conflict — longing for change at the same time as wanting to remain within the safety of what is familiar. Or you may not yet have the words for what has brought you here.
Whatever has led you to consider therapy, there is something important in noticing that you may need support and beginning to explore what that support could look like. It can take self-awareness to recognise that something needs attention, courage to turn towards what may be difficult, and hope that things could be different.
I am a qualified therapist with postgraduate training in psychosynthesis counselling. I work relationally and at depth, exploring not only what is happening in your life now, but how earlier experiences may continue to influence the present — sometimes in ways that are difficult to recognise when we are living within them.
Ways of responding that once helped us adapt to difficult experiences can sometimes become constraining later in life. By becoming curious about these patterns, and approaching them with understanding rather than judgement, we can begin to recognise what is happening and create greater freedom and choice in how you respond now.
Practice description
Therapy with me offers a regular space where you don't need to arrive knowing what to say or having worked out what is wrong. Sometimes you may know exactly what you want to explore; at other times we may begin with whatever feels most present and see where that takes us.
At the heart of my work is the relationship we develop together. I bring curiosity, sensitivity and openness, and aim to create a space where you can explore experiences that may have been difficult to understand, express or hold alone.
There is no fixed formula for how we work. Most of our work will happen through conversation. Where it feels useful, I may also offer different ways to explore your experience, perhaps by paying attention to sensations and emotions, or by working with imagery, visualisation, and creative approaches. These are always invitations rather than expectations, and how we work will develop in response to you rather than requiring you to fit a particular way of doing therapy.
Alongside understanding the difficulties you are experiencing, therapy can also make room for more of who you are. Sometimes, when life feels particularly difficult, it can be hard to imagine anything beyond what you are going through. There is no expectation that you should. Over time, we can remain open to what else may become apparent — what matters to you, what gives your life meaning and what may become possible.
You don't need to know how to 'do' therapy or where our conversations should lead. We can find our way together, paying attention to what feels important and what feels possible to explore along the way.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation before you decide whether you would like to begin therapy with me.
This is an informal opportunity for us to meet. You can tell me a little about what has brought you to therapy and what you may be looking for, and ask any questions you have about me or how I work.
It also gives you an opportunity to notice how it feels to talk with me and whether you feel we could work well together. There is no obligation to continue afterwards.
If we decide to work together, we will arrange a regular weekly session. Our first full session gives us more time to begin getting to know one another and exploring what you would like from therapy. We can also talk through the practical aspects of working together and any questions you may have.
