About me and my therapy practice

Hello. I imagine you are here because you have a desire for change. Perhaps you have noticed a lack of joy, or general sense of flatness. A recent life change, or set-back, may feel difficult to digest, or you just feel stuck.

Searching for a therapist can feel confusing. It is important you find someone with whom you can be at ease, be yourself, and work through whatever issues you are facing. I hope I can be of service to you on your journey so please read on, and you are welcome to contact me for a short 15 - 20 minute phone or Zoom conversation free of charge if you have any questions.

I am a transpersonal therapist, trained in Psychosynthesis - a grounded, practical approach that honours the full range of human experience. Rather than focusing on symptoms alone, Psychosynthesis invites us to explore the whole of who you are: your thoughts and feelings, yes, but also your body, your imagination, your sense of meaning, and what you are reaching towards.

I have a background and professional experience in personal development, which enhances what I bring as a therapist, drawing on a commitment to support others in their transformation for the last 20 years.

I bring a curiosity to what gets in the way of aliveness, joy and a sense of fulfilment. It has been my experience, via my own journey and by supporting others, that by delving into the depths to process and release what is held there, we create more space for joy and aliveness to emerge. In this way, therapy offers a space where our innate wisdom can be heard.

Practice description

Modern life can feel fast and disorientating, leading us to adapt into ways of being based on survival. I aim to create a space where the deeper, subtler, sometimes dismissed parts of yourself may have time and space to be seen, heard and tended to, which invites expression again, with the ultimate goal of self-realisation.

I offer online sessions, allowing you to attend sessions from the comfort of your own space. I have observed that this can facilitate a deepening of the work as it reduces the ‘effort’ in getting to the session, allows for reflection time at the completion of each session, and many clients find it easier to fit a weekly session into a busy week.

Sessions employ various ways of bringing you more fully into awareness of the difficulties you are facing and enable you to tap into the unexpressed power and potential you possess, working with among other things, memory, imagination, visualisation, the body, art, and emotion. I work with what you bring trusting that you are the expert on your life.

Whether you are navigating anxiety, grief, a loss of direction, or simply a quiet sense that something isn't right, you don't need to have it figured out before you arrive. That is what we will explore and unpack in the sessions.

My first session

... and beyond ...

In your first session the focus will be us building a shared picture of you and your life. I will ask you a range of questions about you (childhood, family & friends, relationships, work, health, etc.) that help me place you and your need for therapy in a context. This will enable me to 'meet' you and serve as a starting point for the work that follows.

After this session if you would like to continue we can agree to another 5 sessions during which, holding your issue(s) in the foreground, we begin to explore how you navigate the world around you, respond to highs and lows, and make the choices you feel compelled to make. We review the work again around the sixth session and then (and at other regular intervals) you can decide if you wish to continue for a longer period of time, fixed or open ended.
