Therapist - Oxford - ONLINE

Oxford - ONLINE OX1
07364229195
Sessions from £110.00

Features

Availability

I work online from Tuesday to Friday, between 10am and 5pm.

I usually offer clients a regular weekly appointment at the same time each week, subject to availability. Sessions last 50–55 minutes.

Please contact me to enquire about current availability and available appointment times.

About me and my therapy practice

I work with thoughtful, intellectually curious and self-aware people who are used to understanding complex problems but become frustrated because they cannot stop experiencing painful emotions such as anger, loneliness, failure or isolation.

Many of my clients are expats, neurodivergent, or belong to minority groups.

When Understanding Is Not Enough

You may understand yourself quite well. You may have spent time thinking, analysing, or talking about your difficulties and where they come from. Yet you may still find yourself caught in repetitive patterns or persistent experiences that you cannot seem to change.

What You May Be Experiencing

This might mean:

  • repeating the same patterns in relationships;
  • getting stuck in loops of overthinking;
  • putting relentless pressure on yourself;
  • feeling out of sync with people around you;
  • struggling to recognise and express your needs;
  • not feeling in control of your life;
  • feeling overwhelmed by a constant threat of failure;
  • knowing what you “should” do but repeatedly finding yourself doing something else;
  • feeling dissatisfied, empty, or unsure about what would make your life meaningful, despite being successful in many areas of your life.

How Counselling and Coaching Can Help

Understanding why something happens is an important first step, but it does not always lead to change. Counselling and coaching can help us go further: to recognise the patterns that keep repeating, understand what maintains them, and experiment with different ways of responding.

What We May Work Towards

At the beginning of our work, we will discuss what you hope to achieve through counselling and coaching.

Our aim may include helping you develop a kinder relationship with yourself, find healthier ways of meeting your emotional needs, change behaviours that are no longer helpful, and create different emotional experiences.

Reviewing Progress

We will review our work regularly to see whether it is helping you move towards the changes that matter to you.

Practice description

Making Patterns Visible

Patterns that repeat in our lives are often connected to earlier experiences. We explore how they developed, how they appear in everyday life and, when relevant, in our work together. We may look at how your thoughts, emotions, bodily responses and behaviours influence one another.

We may also explore existential questions such as choice, responsibility and what matters to you in life.

Working Towards Change

As we identify patterns affecting your life, our work can become more active and future-focused. We may work with emotions, thoughts, behaviours and past experiences, while identifying goals and experimenting with different responses. I welcome your feedback and regularly review our progress.

A Collaborative and Active Approach

I balance client-led exploration with a more active approach depending on your needs. I may challenge you when something appears to get in the way of your goals. I treat coping strategies with respect: even behaviours causing difficulties now may once have helped you cope. We can explore what needs they serve and other ways of meeting them.

Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach

Many of my clients are neurodivergent. The aim is not to make you more neurotypical, but to understand your needs and find strategies that work for you.

Short- and Long-Term Work

We can focus on a specific difficulty or goal short-term, or address established patterns affecting several areas of your life in longer-term work.

My Framework

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and coach (Personal Consultancy model) and an ISST-certified Schema Therapist. This allows us to move flexibly between exploring your experience, working with established patterns and translating insights into practical change.

My background in IT, Maths and Physics contributes to my systemic way of thinking and looking for connections between experiences that may appear separate. I sometimes use diagrams or mind maps to make complex patterns easier to see.

My first session

Before The First Session

Before booking a first session, I offer a free 30-minute online consultation so that we can both consider whether I might be the right counsellor and/or coach for you. We can briefly discuss what is bringing you to counselling and coaching and what you hope to get from our work. You will also have an opportunity to ask any questions that may help you decide whether you would like to work with me.

In The First Session

In our first full session, I will invite you to tell me about your difficulties in whatever way feels most comfortable to you. There is no particular place you need to start; you can begin with whatever feels important. I will ask questions to help me understand your situation and, where possible, begin to share my initial thoughts about how we might approach the difficulties you describe.

A Collaborative Process

I see counselling and coaching as a collaborative process. I bring my professional knowledge and experience, while you bring your knowledge of yourself, your history and your life. I may offer hypotheses, suggest connections or propose ways of working, but I welcome your feedback, questions and disagreement. Together, we will decide what we are working towards and how we might approach it.

Your Active Role

Counselling and coaching usually work best when you take an active role in noticing your patterns and experimenting with change, both within and outside our sessions. As our work develops, we will establish clearer goals and periodically review whether our work is helping you move towards them.
