About me and my therapy practice

I work with individuals and couples who may be struggling with relationships, anxiety, loss or change, or simply feeling stuck and unsure how to move forward.

My approach is warm, collaborative and relational. I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and we can begin to make sense of what is happening together.

I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most useful for you. This may involve exploring what is happening now, noticing patterns that keep repeating and considering how past experiences may be influencing the way you feel, relate and respond.

With couples, I do not take sides. I work with both of you to understand what is happening between you, particularly the patterns you may find yourselves getting caught in, and what may be getting in the way of communication, trust, connection and intimacy.

With individuals, we may explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences and relationships in more depth. I may reflect back patterns I notice and ask questions that help you understand yourself and your relationships differently, creating more room for choice and change.

Practice description

I currently offer online counselling for individuals and couples across the UK.

Individual counselling can provide space to explore relationship difficulties as well as wider concerns such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, loss, life transitions or feeling stuck. We can look together at what is happening now, the patterns that may be contributing to difficulties and what you might want to change.

Couples counselling offers a calm and balanced space to understand what is happening between you. You may be experiencing repeated arguments, emotional distance, difficulties with communication or intimacy, a loss of trust, the impact of an affair, or uncertainty about the future of the relationship. Some couples come wanting to rebuild their relationship, while others need space to understand what they each want next.

I offer a free 20-minute introductory call before arranging a first session. This gives us an opportunity to talk briefly about what is bringing you to counselling, answer any questions you may have and consider whether working together feels like a good fit.

With individual clients, I may also use part of this time to begin gathering a brief personal history if we decide to continue with counselling together. With couples, the first full session will usually include a joint assessment of the relationship and what you would each like from counselling.

My first session

Following the introductory call, the first session is an opportunity to begin exploring in more depth what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to get from our work together.

With individual clients, I will usually have gathered the main initial assessment information during the introductory call, including some personal history and background. This means the first full session can focus more directly on what is happening for you now and what you would like to work on.

With couples, the first full session is a joint assessment. I will give each of you space to describe the relationship from your perspective, what has brought you to counselling and what you would each like to be different. We will also begin to explore the history of your relationship and the patterns or difficulties that may be affecting you now.
