About me and my therapy practice

Life brings all of us to points where something needs to shift, even when we can't quite name what that something is. A relationship might feel stuck. A loss might have hit harder than expected. Something from the past might keep bursting into the present, uninvited. Or a quiet unease about a new stage of life might have stirred questions that won't settle on their own.

You don't need fixing. Something just got in the way — and we can work with that.

This is central to Gestalt therapy, the approach I practice: we're all born with the capacity to solve our own problems, form rewarding relationships, and build a satisfying, fulfilling life. Struggle usually means that capacity got interrupted, not that it disappeared. Together, we can look more closely at your situation, notice your part in the patterns that keep things stuck, and experiment with new ways of responding — often discovering firmer ground than you thought was there.

After a decade working in the humanitarian aid sector, in places shaped by crisis and trauma, I learned that what truly helps a person in difficulty is rarely someone arriving with answers already decided. It's someone willing to stay present, connect honestly, and not look away — even when things are hardest. That's what I offer now, as a therapist.

I’m a fully qualified counsellor and a BACP member. I'm currently completing a Master's in Psychotherapy at the University of Brighton, building on my Humanistic and Gestalt counselling training. I bring experience working with trauma in its many forms, from early childhood through to adulthood, as well as a longstanding interest in existential questions — meaning, freedom, and the harder parts of being human. Some people arrive already able to put words to what's going on. Others only know that something isn't right. Whatever has brought you here, I'd be glad to meet it, and you.

Practice description

I show up with steady presence, real warmth, and plain honesty. Whatever you bring, I want to meet it with acceptance rather than judgement — curious about your particular way of seeing the world, including the parts you're least sure of. My hope is to support you in becoming more fully who you are, free from the "shoulds" that so often crowd us out. The past doesn't always stay in the past. I pay close attention to what happens between us as we talk, since what's unresolved often finds its way into the room before it can be defined in words.

I work from The Practice Rooms in Hove, offering both in-person and online sessions, so you can choose whichever suits you — or move between the two if your circumstances change.

Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly. I offer both short-term, focused work and longer, open-ended therapy, depending on what you're bringing. We'll talk early on about which option feels like the better fit, and that can always be revisited as we go.

I see individual adult clients, in person or online, for sessions that can run anywhere from a few weeks to considerably longer. Confidentiality, consistency, and working at your pace are central to how I practise.

My first session

I offer an initial session at half my usual rate, so we can find out together whether we're a good fit, without that decision carrying the full weight of a regular session's cost.

This first meeting isn't a formal assessment. It's a conversation: a chance for you to share what's brought you here, ask me anything about how I work, and get a feel for whether this approach suits you. I'll ask some questions to understand your situation, but there's no need to arrive with it all clearly explained — however you're able to put it into words at this stage is enough.

I'll also cover the practical details — fees, scheduling, confidentiality, and what ongoing sessions might involve — so you have what you need to decide afterwards, with no pressure to continue if it doesn't feel right.

If we do go ahead, we'll agree together on what pace and approach suits you, and that can shift as the work develops.
