Availability

I am very flexible; if I have space, I will fit you in. I am available on weekends and evenings as well. My last appointment is at 8 pm

About me and my therapy practice

I offer a warm, compassionate and down-to-earth approach to counselling. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to support you in understanding yourself more deeply, recognising patterns and exploring choices that feel right for you.

My work is primarily person-centred, which means I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and be accepted as you are. We will work collaboratively and at your pace, with your needs and goals at the centre of our sessions.

I also draw on Gestalt therapy to help you become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, physical responses and experiences in the present moment. This can support you to notice patterns, understand how you relate to yourself and others, and explore new ways of responding.

Transactional Analysis (TA) may also help us explore how past experiences and relationships can influence your thoughts, feelings and behaviour today. Together, we can consider different parts of yourself, recognise unhelpful patterns and develop more balanced and empowering ways of relating.

I will not tell you what to do or make assumptions about your experiences. Instead, I will listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions and support you to develop greater self-awareness, self-compassion and confidence in your own decisions.

My professional experience includes working in mental health and crisis teams, addiction recovery, and supporting neurodivergent people, including autistic clients. I have also worked with people who have experienced prison. I aim to work in a respectful, inclusive and accessible way, adapting our sessions to suit you.

Practice description

I offer a warm, compassionate and down-to-earth counselling practice for adults who may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, addiction, life changes or the impact of difficult past experiences.

I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and be heard without pressure. You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin. Together, we can explore what is happening for you, understand how your experiences may be affecting you and consider what you would like to change.

My approach is collaborative and tailored to you. I believe you are the expert on your own life, so I will not tell you what to do or make assumptions about your experiences. Instead, I will listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions and support you to recognise patterns, develop self-understanding and make choices that feel right for you.

I have professional experience in mental health and crisis teams, addiction recovery, and supporting neurodivergent people, including autistic clients. I have also worked with people who have experienced prison. This has given me an understanding of the effects of stigma, isolation, trauma, difficult life experiences and major transitions.

I aim to work in a respectful, inclusive and accessible way, adapting our sessions to your individual needs and preferences. Whether you are facing a specific difficulty or simply feel stuck and want a better understanding of yourself, I would be pleased to support you.

My first session

My first session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to meet, talk about what has brought you to counselling and consider what you would like support with. I will explain how I work, answer any questions you may have and discuss practical details such as confidentiality, boundaries, session arrangements and cancellations.

There is no pressure to share anything before you feel ready. You can talk at your own pace, and you are welcome to tell me if there are particular needs or adjustments that would help you feel more comfortable. We can also discuss what you hope to gain from counselling and begin to think together about how we might work towards this.

I may ask some questions about your current circumstances, wellbeing and relevant history so that I can better understand your needs and ensure that counselling is appropriate and safe for you. This is not a test or diagnosis, and you only need to share what feels manageable. We can return to anything gradually over time.

The first session is also a chance for you to decide whether I feel like the right counsellor for you. Building a trusting relationship is important, so I encourage you to ask questions and share any concerns. If we agree to continue, we will review our work together regularly and make sure our sessions remain useful and suited to you.

My usual session fee applies to the first session.
