About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified counsellor and Registered Member of the BACP, working from a person-centred approach. I believe that counselling should provide a space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted without judgement.

My way of working is warm, compassionate and led by you. Rather than me telling you what you should do or giving you solutions, I work alongside you to explore what you're experiencing at your own pace. together, we can begin to understand how things from your past may be affecting you in the present.

I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including, anxiety, low-mood, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, life changes, feeling overwhelmed or simply feeling stuck or unsure of themselves.

I aim to build a genuine and trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable being yourself. There is no expectation to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about, we can work this out together as therapy develops.

Practice description

Held With Care Counselling is a private counselling practice offering a calm, supportive and confidential space to explore whatever may be going on for you. I offer counselling to adults who may be experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, difficult past experiences, life changes or feelings of being overwhelmed or stuck. You don't need to be experiencing a crisis or have a particular diagnosis to come to counselling, sometimes you may simply feel that something isn't quite right or want a space to understand yourself better.

Sessions are available in-person in the Stockport area and online across the UK, allowing you to choose the option that feels most comfortable and accessible for you.

Sessions are an hour and £55 per session. I also offer a free 15-minute introductory call, with no obligation to book afterwards. This gives you an opportunity to ask any questions, tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling and get a sense of whether I might be the right counsellor for you.

My aim is for Held with Care to be somewhere you can bring all parts of yourself and feel genuinely listened to, without judgement or pressure.

My first session

Starting counselling can sometimes feel daunting, particularly if you're not sure what to expect. My aim is to make your first session feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

Before your first session, you can choose to have a free 15-minute introductory call. This gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions and see whether you feel comfortable working with me.

During our first full session, we will go through some important information about how we will work together, including confidentiality and our counselling agreement. We can then begin exploring what has brought you to therapy and what you might hope to gain from our sessions.

There is no pressure to share everything straight away or to know exactly where to begin. We will work at a pace that feels right for you, and you can bring whatever feels most important to the session.
