About me and my therapy practice
Life can sometimes feel difficult to navigate, and it isn't always easy to make sense of what we're feeling or why we feel the way we do. Perhaps you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or finding it hard to understand yourself or your relationships.
Hello I’m Clare,
I offer a space where you can slow down, talk things through and explore whatever feels important to you, without fear of being judged. You don't need to know exactly what you want to say or have everything figured out before you come. We can start wherever you are.
Alongside my private practice, I work in the NHS and bring over twenty years of experience in mental health to my work as a counsellor and psychotherapist.
Practice description
I know that reaching out to a counsellor can feel like a big step, especially if you're not quite sure what you're looking for or where to begin.
My approach is warm, gentle and curious. I want to understand you and your experiences, and to offer a space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. I'm kind and reflective, but I also believe that therapy can include laughter and humour. We don't have to take ourselves seriously all the time, even when we're talking about difficult things.
I work with adults on a one-to-one basis, offering a space to explore whatever might be going on for you. Perhaps there are things you keep finding yourself coming back to, patterns in your relationships, feelings that are difficult to make sense of, or a sense that something just doesn't feel right.
I’m interested in getting to know you and understanding your experiences, rather than fitting you into a particular way of working. We might explore how your past has shaped you, pay attention to what you’re feeling in the present, or notice how your experiences show up in your body and relationships. I draw on different therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, Gestalt and person-centred therapy, alongside mindfulness, body-based work and CBT where these feel helpful.
There’s no fixed formula for our work. We can go at your pace, follow what feels important and be curious together about what might help you understand yourself differently. And if it feels right for you, we can sometimes take our sessions outside or bring creativity into our work. Therapy doesn't always have to happen in a room.
I aim to meet people with warmth, openness and without judgement. My practice is LGBTQ+ inclusive, neuro-affirming and trauma-informed, and I welcome people of all backgrounds and identities.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minutes telephone call for you to get to know me a bit better and for me to understand what is bringing you therapy.
From there, if you would like to, we can schedule our first session.
