About me and my therapy practice
I am a relational psychodynamic counsellor/psychotherapist, with my practice considering our early relationships and how these shape how we relate to ourselves and others. Alongside working with the impact our relationships have in shaping us, my practice also holds the impact of societal structures and how inequalities we may have experienced have shaped our life.
I view you as the expert in you, with my practice being grounded in gentle enquiry, respecting what you are comfortable beginning to approach and exploring this together. My practice is non-directive and whilst my way of working primarily focusses on talking, I also utilise Dixit cards in my practice to support communication through engaging with imagery.
I can offer short and long-term therapy, with reviews occurring as indicated during our work together. Reviews are something that can be initiated by either of us and offer the opportunity to reflect on the focus of therapy, work completed so far and when ending is indicated.
Practice description
My professional background is in mental health nursing where I have practiced as a qualified nurse since 2018. In this role I have worked with a range of complex mental health conditions, including psychosis, mood disorders and eating disorders, working with both adults and young people, having worked for several years in child and adolescent mental health services.
My counselling experience includes working as a volunteer counsellor at the PF counselling service (Feb 2023-May 2026) where I have worked with adults (18 and above) experiencing a range of mental health difficulties.
What I can help with:
• Trauma: I have experience working with those who have experienced childhood abuse and sexual violence including childhood sexual abuse.
• Grief: My experience in grief work includes working with those who have experienced suicide bereavement.
• Eating disorders.
• Neurodiversity.
• Mood disorders.
My first session
A first session focuses on assessment, offering you the opportunity to talk about your life including childhood experiences, mental health history and what brings you to therapy. Assessment appointments are 50 minutes and offered at a reduced rate of £50.
Following an assessment appointment initial sessions focus on offering a tentative space to explore your feelings and experiences. I am a firm believer in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and initial sessions will also see if I feel like the right fit for you.
