About me and my therapy practice

Thank you for visiting my profile. I offer a calm and compassionate space to explore what is troubling you. I'm interested in helping people understand their difficulties, and make meaningful and lasting change in their lives.

I have a particular interest and background in helping people struggling with anxiety, bereavement, relationship problems, spirituality, and the challenges and possibilities of middle and later life.

Therapy helps you to explore feelings that may be too painful or complicated to share elsewhere. You may be facing a current crisis, relationship difficulties, or burdened by something that has been weighing on you for a long time. You may be struggling with a growing sense that life has lost its meaning or direction. These difficulties are all part of human experience that many of us encounter at different points in our lives.

Together, we can make sense of what you are going through, and pay attention to what is shaping the different ways you feel and respond. We will explore what's helping you and what is getting in your way, and identify what you need now to make positive changes in your life.

Some people prefer short-term therapy sessions to tackle a specific issue. Others choose a longer-term approach to explore their difficulties and make lasting change. We will determine the most helpful path, and regularly assess our progress to make sure it is in line with your goals.

Practice description

I work with clients in person or online depending on your preference. I use the secure platform Zoom for online sessions. I have consulting rooms at two locations in Richmond and Mortlake.

I'm an integrative psychotherapist. This means that I draw on different approaches and tailor my help to what you need now. My primary training is in person-centred, relational and psycho-dynamic psychotherapy. At its heart is respect and compassion for you as an individual. I value a collaborative approach that recognises your unique experiences and capacity for change.

My journey to becoming a therapist began with the time I spent volunteering with the suicide prevention charity The Listening Place. My experience there reinforced my appreciation of how much it can help to be heard and understood. When life feels very difficult, compassion and authentic attention can make a space for the possibility of hope and change.

I have since worked at a counselling service where I provided therapy for a wide range of people and problems. In my time there I worked with people struggling with difficulties including anxiety, burn out, bereavement, anger management problems, relationship difficulties, and the challenges and opportunities of later life.

My first session

I invite you to call me and leave a message if I am not available. or send me an email. I will respond within 24 hours, but usually sooner.

We will arrange to talk for about 15 minutes so that I can gain a general understanding of what has brought you to therapy. There is no charge for this. If it is something that I believe I can help with, and you would like to proceed, we will arrange our first session. This will either be online, or in person at therapy rooms in Richmond and Mortlake.

All of our sessions last 50 minutes and are held in a quiet, confidential space in person or online. In our first meeting, we will focus on what has brought you to therapy, what you would like to change, and why now feels like the right time to seek help. We will develop a shared understanding of what you are struggling with, and what you would like to work towards. You don't have to know exactly what you need before you begin. All that matters is that you want to start exploring. We’ll work at a pace that feels manageable for you.

I will also describe my approach to therapy, confidentiality and the practical arrangements of how we will work together.

If you would like to go ahead, we will then discuss whether to proceed on a short-term or long-term basis, and arrange a suitable time to meet each week.
