Availability
Availability
I understand that fitting counselling around work, family and everyday life can sometimes be difficult.
I therefore offer flexible appointments both within normal office hours and outside of them, including some evening availability. Sessions are available either face-to-face or online, depending on what feels most comfortable and practical for you.
Where possible, we can agree a regular weekly appointment to provide consistency, although I appreciate that life does not always fit neatly around a fixed timetable.
I aim to be as flexible as reasonably possible and we can discuss your availability when we first speak to find something that works for us both.
About me and my therapy practice
Making the decision to speak to a counsellor can feel like a big step. You may not know exactly what is wrong; you might simply know that something doesn't feel right, life has become difficult, or you don't want to keep feeling the way you do.
I offer a warm, down-to-earth and confidential space where you can talk openly without judgement. I am an integrative counsellor, which means I don't believe one approach suits everybody. At the heart of my work is the relationship we build together. I won't simply sit silently; I will be alongside you, listening, asking questions, gently challenging and helping you explore what may be happening beneath the surface.
I work with anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, relationships, feeling stuck or overwhelmed, life changes and simply wanting to understand yourself better.
I offer face-to-face and online counselling, with good availability both within and outside normal office hours.
You don't need the right words. We can start wherever you are.
Practice description
My practice is centred around providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is happening in your life. You do not need to arrive with everything worked out or even know exactly what you want to talk about. We can start wherever you are.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on you and what you bring. At the heart of my practice is the relationship we build together. I believe feeling genuinely heard, understood and accepted can be an important part of creating change.
My style is warm, down-to-earth and engaged. I won't simply sit silently while you do all the talking. I will listen carefully, ask questions, gently challenge where appropriate and help you explore thoughts, feelings and patterns that may be difficult to understand on your own.
Sometimes we may look at experiences or relationships from your past and how they could be affecting you today. At other times, our work may focus entirely on what is happening in your life right now. There is no set formula.
Counselling is something we do together, at a pace that feels manageable for you. There can be difficult conversations and periods of silence, but there can also be warmth, humour and laughter. Above all, I want my practice to offer a place where you can safely be yourself without fear of judgement.
My first session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin to understand what has brought you to counselling. There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what is wrong, what you want to change, or even where to begin. We can work that out together.
I will explain how counselling works, confidentiality and what you can expect from me, and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Most importantly, we can begin talking about you and what is happening in your life at a pace that feels comfortable.
The first session is also about seeing how we feel working together. Finding the right counsellor is important, and I want you to feel safe, comfortable and able to talk without fear of judgement. There is no pressure or expectation to continue if you feel I am not the right counsellor for you.
You don't need to prepare anything beforehand or find the “right” words. Just come as you are, and we can start from there.
