About me and my therapy practice
I'm Liam, a psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Brighton.
My approach is relational and psychodynamic which essentially means I like to pay attention to what happens between us, and I believe the relationship itself is often where understanding and change happens. I'm also interested in how our early experiences and unconscious patterns continue to show up in present-day relationships, choices and behaviours.
I trained originally in sport psychology, and that background has stayed with me. I've always been interested in the connection between the body, movement and emotional wellbeing, and how the way we relate to ourselves physically interacts with the way we relate to ourselves emotionally.
I aim to offer a space that feels honest, gentle and non-judgemental. Somewhere you can bring whatever you're carrying, including the parts of yourself you might usually keep hidden.
Practice description
I see clients in person at The Practice Rooms in Brighton, a quiet, private and comfortable setting away from clinical or institutional feel. Unfortunately this practice is not wheelchair accessible.
Sessions are 50 minutes, usually at the same time each week.
My fee is from £50 per session. I'm open to a conversation if cost is a barrier so please don't let that stop you getting in touch.
My first session
I offer a free, informal 20-minute call as a way for you to ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and decide whether it feels right to go ahead with in-person sessions. There's no formal assessment or questionnaire, just a conversation at your pace. This call comes with no obligation to continue.
If we agree to work together, your first paid session is a chance for us to slow down and explore what has brought you to therapy, what you may be hoping for or expecting from therapy, and anything you'd like me to know.
