About me and my therapy practice
It takes courage to seek help when you’re overwhelmed or in pain. Let’s carve out a space in your busy week that’s just for you. We can examine together what is causing you difficulties, and, beyond that, what you might hope for out of life. After all, therapy isn’t just about what’s wrong – it’s also about your strengths, your joys, your sense of purpose. Therapy can be a space to catch your breath and consider what you need right now, and also to consider the "something more" that might be ready to find expression.
Personal fit is important for the work of therapy, and there’s nothing like a real conversation to get a sense of this. I invite you to book a free twenty-minute discovery call with me; and if we proceed to a first full session, the fee for this will be refunded should you choose for any reason not to continue.
Therapy with me is an experience of being seen and respected, so that you can unfold your story at your own pace. I will be curious about what your experiences mean to you, rather than rushing in with analysis or solutions. But we will not chase the same worries around and around forever – together we will be looking out for opportunities to activate the energy of change. You have the wisdom to resolve your difficulties – it is my job to help you connect with it.
I work mostly in-person from my central London office, a short walk from City Thameslink station. Occasional online sessions may be arranged at need, especially once we have established a working relationship.
If you feel I may be the right therapist to support you through the next stage of your growth, I honour your courage in moving your life forward, and I would be glad to hear from you.
Practice description
I can work with a range of difficulties, but I have a few particular interests:
- ADHD, autism, AuDHD: I am neurodivergent, and am cognisant of the practical challenges and theoretical debates. I love helping neurodivergent clients free themselves from external judgement and thrive just as they are.
- Anxiety and depression: These are complex conditions, and I find they rarely show up in therapy in isolation. We will reflect on them within your bigger context, exploring possible origins as well as practical strategies for coping.
- Attachment and relationship issues: I work with attachment theory and other models to help you explore difficulties with relating (romantic, family, friends, or in the workplace) and address challenges at the root.
- Anger issues: Anger is a misunderstood and taboo emotion. If you are curious or concerned about your relationship with anger, I would be glad to help you explore what healthy anger might mean to you. Let's break the taboo and talk about it, with honesty and respect.
- Meaning and purpose: We are supposed to just know what makes life meaningful, but it doesn't always feel that simple. If your sense of purpose has palled lately, or if this is something you have long struggled with, we can explore this together.
- Over-achievement and under-achievement: I believe these are two sides of the same developmental coin, and either predicament is very painful. The compulsive pursuit of success can lead to burnout and shame, while others stall at the starting line and don't know what is going wrong. It is possible to get into a healthier relationship with effort and achievement. Together, we can reflect on what you might need.
- Living well after a tricky childhood: Early difficulties can have practical and emotional consequences later in life. Coming to terms with what happened is not about dwelling on the past, but frees up energy for a future you are truly excited about. When you heal yourself, you will have more to give others and the world.
My first session
We will use the first session to explore any specific difficulty that has led you to therapy, and to build up a little context about your life as a whole. We can also talk a little about how I work, and you can ask any questions you might have.
The first session is billed at my usual rate, but if you decide not to continue after this session, the fee will be refunded. This provides us with an obligation-free space to chat about your needs and expectations before we commit to deepening the work.
