About me and my therapy practice
My approach to counselling is non-judgemental and honest. I work in an integrative way which means I utilise different approaches and techniques in my work, and tailor it around each person individually.
In my work I focus on the therapeutic relationship that forms between us, therapy needs a strong foundation for it to be the most effective. I value honesty and up front communication so please don’t be afraid to give feedback and let me know what it is you would like and benefit most from. Although therapy often deals with serious topics, I don't think the space has to be serious all the time and I leave room for humour and whatever else may come up.
I have a professional background working in addiction, mental health and sexual violence. I have worked with people through their recovery journey on a 1:1 basis and in groups, and have worked both inpatient and outpatient in addiction services. I currently work for a sexual violence charity and have experience working in a trauma informed way.
Academically I have a degree in Neuroscience and a masters in Psychology. From this I take an understanding of the brain and behaviour which I utilise in my work.
