About me and my therapy practice
Perhaps you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn. Maybe something from your past continues to affect your present, or you simply want a space where you can be heard and understood without judgement.
My approach is compassionate, relational and person-centred. I offer a safe, confidential and supportive space where we can work collaboratively to explore your experiences, develop a deeper understanding of yourself, and move towards healing and growth. I recognise that your experiences are unique and that you are the expert in your own life.
I aim to build a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel accepted, respected and able to explore difficult thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Together, we can work towards greater self-understanding, empowered choice, recovery and wellbeing.
Practice description
I offer counselling for people who want to make sense of their experiences, work through challenges or find a way forward when life feels difficult. You don't need to have everything figured out before coming to counselling; we can begin wherever you are.
I have particular interests in substance misuse and recovery, neurodiversity, trauma, complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I am also interested in supporting trauma survivors, ex-boarders, ex-military personnel, and their partners and family members.
I am trauma-informed, neurodivergence-affirming, and deeply committed to inclusion. I aim to provide an inclusive, respectful and non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable bringing your whole self.
Alongside counselling, I work as a SMART Recovery facilitator and have experience supporting people affected by substance misuse and trauma. My practice is grounded in compassion, collaboration and respect for your individual circumstances. I hope to support you in developing self-awareness, recognising your strengths and moving towards greater confidence, choice and wellbeing.
My first session
Our first session is an opportunity for us to meet, begin getting to know one another and explore what has brought you to counselling. You may have a clear idea of what you would like to work on, or you may simply know that something doesn't feel right. Either is absolutely fine.
We'll have space to talk about what matters to you, what you hope counselling might offer, and any questions or concerns you may have. I'll also explain how I work, including confidentiality and its limits, professional boundaries and how we can work together.
There is no pressure to share anything before you're ready. Building trust takes time, and we can work at a pace that feels comfortable for you. The first session is also an opportunity for you to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.
My aim is for you to leave feeling listened to, respected and with a clearer sense of whether counselling with me feels right for you
