About me and my therapy practice
As an integrative counsellor and BACP registered member, I offer a warm, unhurried space for adults aged 18 and over navigating change, loss, illness and new beginnings. I see clients in person in Twickenham and Richmond, and online across the UK.
Many people come to counselling knowing only that something feels difficult - that they feel stuck, unsettled or not quite themselves. That's enough of a starting point. You don't need to arrive with the right words; finding them is part of what we do together.
I work with life transitions, loss and grief, anxiety and overwhelm, low mood, relationship patterns and endings, and questions of identity, values and meaning. I support people living with cancer or another health condition, and those close to someone who is unwell, though my work does not currently extend to end of life care. I also offer a space for parents and carers whose child or young person is in therapy.
My work is rooted in a person-centred approach: you set the direction, and I follow your lead with warmth, honesty and acceptance. I also draw on psychodynamic and existential thinking, with an interest in transpersonal and nature-informed perspectives, and can bring in practical tools when they help. Many of the people I work with are neurodivergent, and I'm happy to adapt the pace, structure of sessions or how we communicate so that therapy feels comfortable for you.
I have worked as a counsellor at The Mulberry Centre, supporting people affected by cancer, Dose of Nature, offering nature-based therapeutic support, and Place2Be, the children's mental health charity. Before training as a counsellor, I spent over 20 years in corporate roles, including at director level, which gives me a real understanding of workplace pressure and career change.
Practice description
I see clients in person at The Practice Rooms in Twickenham and Richmond, and online via Google Meet for adults anywhere in the UK. Online sessions need no app or account - you simply click a link - all you need is a quiet, private space.
Once we've built a trusting relationship and spent time together in the counselling room, walk and talk sessions may become part of our work, in Richmond Park, Bushy Park or along the Thames towpath, in locations that feel safe and private.
Before we meet, we can have a free 20-minute introductory call by phone or video. It's a chance to tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions, and see whether working together feels right - with no obligation to go ahead.
If you'd like to continue, I'll send you some information about how I work, along with my working agreement, which covers confidentiality, cancellations, payment and how we'll work together. You're welcome to read it at your own pace, and we'll go through it together at the start of our first session.
Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly. Some people find six to twelve sessions helpful; others prefer longer-term work. We review how things are going together, and when you're ready to finish, we make space for a proper ending.
Fees: £75 in person, £65 online and walk and talk.
Payment is by bank transfer, and 48 hours' notice is needed to cancel. I offer a small number of concessionary places - if cost is a barrier, please mention it when you get in touch.
Availability: Monday daytime, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings and Friday mornings.
I work within the BACP Ethical Framework and have regular clinical supervision. I hold an enhanced DBS check and professional indemnity insurance, and I'm registered with the ICO.
My first session
The first session is 50 minutes at my usual fee (£75 in person, £65 online). Walk and talk isn't offered for first sessions.
Our first session is also an initial assessment. I'll ask you to complete a short questionnaire, and we'll talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you're hoping for, and a little about your background and current situation, including your wellbeing, your GP and any support you already have. There's no pressure to share anything you're not ready for, and you won't be asked to go into difficult experiences in depth at this stage - that happens gradually, at a pace that feels right for you.
At the end of the session, we'll talk about how I might be able to help and whether you'd like to continue. You're under no obligation to commit to ongoing work, and if I'm not the right counsellor for you, I'll do my best to suggest someone who might be a better fit.
There's nothing you need to prepare - just come as you are.
