About me and my therapy practice
Perhaps something in your life doesn't feel right. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed or low. Perhaps your mind rarely switches off, you're struggling with a relationship, coping with grief or loss, dealing with work or family pressures, or facing a change you weren't expecting.
You might find yourself worrying about the future, going over the past or wondering why the same feelings or patterns keep returning. Or perhaps there isn't one particular problem. You simply feel stuck, disconnected from yourself or know that something needs to change.
You don't need to have it all worked out before you come to counselling. We can start with where you are.
I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can slow things down and talk openly about what is happening for you.
My approach is primarily person-centred. I believe you are the expert in your own life. I won't tell you what you should do. Instead, I'll work alongside you, helping you explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.
I also draw on psychodynamic thinking where helpful. Exploring how earlier experiences and relationships may influence how you feel, respond or relate to others today can help recurring patterns begin to make sense.
Greater self-understanding can help you recognise what you would like to change and what you might be ready to accept about yourself. For me, counselling isn't about becoming a different person. It's about understanding yourself, recognising what you need and considering how you want to move forward.
I have experience supporting adults with anxiety, stress, panic, low mood, grief and loss, trauma, relationship and family difficulties, caring responsibilities, loneliness, self-esteem, overwhelm and significant life changes.
Alongside counselling, I bring more than 20 years' professional experience in education, coaching, leadership and wellbeing.
Practice description
I work with adults and offer 50-minute counselling sessions.
Sessions can provide you with a regular, confidential space to focus on yourself and explore whatever is happening in your life.
Our work may involve understanding difficult feelings, exploring relationships or past experiences, recognising patterns that keep repeating, or thinking about changes you would like to make.
There is no pressure to disclose anything before you feel ready. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I offer counselling face-to-face in London NW2 & NW6, online and by telephone. Online counselling also enables me to work with clients across the UK.
My first session
I know that contacting a counsellor for the first time can feel daunting and finding someone you feel comfortable talking to is important.
I therefore offer a free 15-minute introductory telephone conversation before you decide whether you would like to book a session.
This gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions you may have and get a sense of whether working together feels right for you.
There's no obligation to book afterwards.
If we decide to work together, our first full session gives us more time to explore what is happening for you and what you would like from counselling. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about. We can begin wherever feels right for you.
