About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor working with adults through some of life's most difficult and sensitive experiences — bereavement and loss, anxiety, depression, the menopause, and the emotional impact of fertility and conception difficulties. I trained through a Level 4 Diploma in Applied Counselling and Psychotherapy (CPCAB) and I'm a Registered Member of the BACP.
I believe therapy works best when it's built around the person in front of me, not a single fixed method, so I draw flexibly on person-centred, CBT and solution-focused approaches depending on what will help most. The relationship between us matters for therapy to be effective: I aim to create a calm, confidential space where you can be honest without fear of judgement, whatever you're going through.
Before training as a counsellor, I spent many years as a professional dancer and later worked in sports education, so I have a particular understanding of the pressures faced by performers and athletes — the toll of high-performance environments on confidence, identity and mental wellbeing — and enjoy supporting clients from these worlds specifically, alongside my general practice.
I am bound by the BACP's ethical framework, which governs the standards of care and confidentiality you can expect from our work together.
Practice description
I support adults through some of life's harder chapters — grief and loss, anxiety, depression, family difficulties, the menopause transition, and the emotional toll of fertility and conception difficulties. My approach is integrative, combining person-centred, CBT, solution-focused and psychodynamic methods, tailored to what each client needs rather than a single set method.
I support adults with:
Bereavement, grief and loss
Anxiety and depression
Menopause and hormonal transitions
Fertility and conception difficulties
Life transitions, stress and low self-esteem
The specific pressures faced by performers, dancers and athletes
I also bring experience of counselling children, giving me a broad and adaptable therapeutic foundation across age groups, even though my current practice is adult-focused.
My first session
Choosing a counsellor is a personal decision, and finding someone you feel comfortable with can make all the difference. I therefore offer a free 20-minute initial consultation, with no obligation to continue.
This is an opportunity for us to briefly meet, talk about what has brought you to counselling and discuss what you would like support with. You can ask any questions you may have about counselling, my approach and how we might work together. Most importantly, it gives you the space to decide whether you feel I am the right person for you.
If you decide that you would like to continue, I will then invite you to complete a short, confidential form before our first full session. This helps me gain an initial understanding of what you are experiencing, what you hope to achieve through counselling and anything you feel would be helpful for me to know.
Your first full session will then provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore what is happening for you at your own pace. We will talk about what you would like to work on and agree how we can best approach your therapy together.
I believe that therapy works best when you feel heard, understood, respected and safe. There is no pressure to have everything worked out before you come. You simply need to take the first step.
