Hi There, thank you for viewing the listing. Sometimes life comes in seasons, just like the the weather or nature, humans can feel a change, blemishes or uncertainty and grow through changes. Finding the right Psychotherapist can be challenging, feeling comfortable and finding a personality that helps settle young people can be the first step.
About me and my therapy practice
My name is Carly, an integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist for Young People, Families and Teenagers. Starting support alongside teenagers since 1996.
I value working from a relational stance, assisting a young person and parents to feel safe in the room, develop a relationship and start with attuning to the body signals that we may feel when entering therapy. Regulating the nervous system is key to building resilience and strength from within. Sensory Activities may help to settle in the therapy space. Over the years training includes Mindfulness for Young People's Emotional Well-being, Theraplay, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, The Just Right State Sensory Attachment Integration Facilitator, Trauma Centre Trauma, Sensitive Yoga facilitator and latterly EMDR . My work aims to embody and sense of 'being' and attune to the body signals and non verbal communication, and then progressing to the spoken word, free talk while offering a space for non judgement. By doing so, there is a possibility of finding oneself and meaning of life events. Most of all, I have learnt to sit and listen and start from where a young person or family feel they need to start. All parts of the self and emotions are welcomed in the room. If a walk in nature is needed, a walk and discover can be an option. Feel free to reach out.
Practice description
While upholding a professional and welcoming stance, clients can expect congruence and gratitude for the journey you are on. A value in sharing space and offering options to explore the key themes that are important to you. A calm and respectful environment, offering confidential space. The office is on a farm and can help to attune to the sounds of nature and find a place of peace and contemplation amongst the frantic world. I am neurodiverse and specialise in trauma, attachment and working with embodiment of the senses. Offering a neurodiversity -affirming environment.
I was raised in a village, with a large family with varying degrees of health or emotional needs. I value the importance in seeing a friendly face and finding routes from which to grow and thrive. A community surrounding families and young people is at the core of my value base.
My first session
The first session is a taster session to see if I am the right fit for you. We may offer snacks and a drink or sensory activities to help settle into the room. I may ask you about what you may like to achieve from the sessions and you are welcome to ask me any questions.
