About me and my therapy practice

My approach is humanistic and person-centred, offering a warm, empathetic and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to explore whatever is bringing you to therapy. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and I aim to work alongside you, allowing you to lead the sessions at your own pace and in a way that feels right for you. I will listen with empathy, openness and acceptance, without judgement or pressure, giving you the space to express your thoughts and feelings freely. Together, we can explore your experiences, deepen your understanding of yourself and work towards whatever feels meaningful to you. I believe that feeling heard, understood and accepted can help create the conditions for personal growth, self-awareness and positive change.

Practice description

My areas of specialism include abuse, coercive control and unhealthy relationships. I offer a safe, empathetic and non-judgemental space for individuals to explore their experiences, understand relationship patterns and develop greater self-awareness and confidence. I recognise the complex impact that abuse and coercive control can have on a person's sense of self, wellbeing and relationships, and I work at a pace that feels comfortable for each client, respecting their individual needs and experiences.

I also have an understanding of the challenges that can come with ADHD and the importance of a supportive, person-centred approach. Alongside my therapeutic work, I deliver training in my other professional role relating to the Violence Against Women Act, which supports my wider knowledge and awareness of violence against women and related issues.

I aim to build a trusting relationship where you feel heard, respected and supported. We can explore the challenges you are facing at a pace that feels right for you, helping you gain a deeper understanding of your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

Whether you are dealing with a specific difficulty or simply want to understand yourself better, I will work collaboratively with you to identify what matters most and what you hope to achieve. There is no pressure to share anything before you feel ready. My aim is to help you feel supported as you work towards greater clarity, confidence and positive change.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin to understand what has brought you to seek support. I will invite you to talk about what is happening in your life, what you are finding difficult and what you would like to gain from our work together.

You are welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable. We can discuss any questions or concerns you may have, and I will explain how I work, including confidentiality and its limits.

Together, we can begin to identify your needs and consider how we might work towards your goals. There is no expectation to have everything figured out before we meet. The most important thing is that you have the space to be heard and begin at your own pace.

The first session is also an opportunity for you to decide whether working with me feels right for you. We can then discuss the next steps and agree on an approach that feels helpful and appropriate.
