About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Xin Liu.
If you've arrived at this page, you may be going through a difficult time. Perhaps you're facing challenges in your relationships, navigating life transitions, or questioning long-held beliefs about yourself and the world around you. Whatever has brought you here, reaching out for support can take courage, and you don't have to face these challenges alone.
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where we can explore your experiences at your own pace. I believe that feeling genuinely heard and understood can create the foundation for meaningful change. Together, we can explore difficult emotions, recognise patterns that may no longer serve you, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.
I am a qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member of the BACP, with experience supporting clients from diverse backgrounds and age groups in both short-term and longer-term therapy.
My approach is relational and trauma-informed, drawing on different therapeutic perspectives to meet your individual needs. I pay particular attention to how past experiences, relationships and cultural backgrounds may shape the way you see yourself and relate to others. I also value working creatively and with bodily awareness, and where appropriate, we may explore experiences beyond words through approaches such as drawing, visualisation or noticing bodily sensations.
Having grown up in China and moved to the UK as an adult, I have personal experience of navigating different cultures, changing career paths, and exploring what feels meaningful and fulfilling in life. These experiences have shaped my particular interest in cross-cultural identity, belonging and difference, life transitions, relationships and complex trauma.
I recognise that language can be deeply connected to how we experience ourselves and the world. If you feel more comfortable expressing yourself in your first language, I offer counselling in both English and Mandarin Chinese (普通话).
My first session
Our initial session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what has brought you to counselling. It is also a chance for you to get a sense of what working with me might feel like and whether my approach suits your needs.
If you would like to book an initial session, simply get in touch and we can arrange a time that works for us both. Once confirmed, I will send you a Zoom link for our online session, along with a short initial assessment form to complete beforehand.
The initial session lasts 50 minutes and costs £50, while subsequent sessions cost £70 each. I offer open-ended counselling, with no obligation to continue after the initial session.
