About me and my therapy practice
My therapy practice
I am a qualified Integrative therapist, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches and adapting my way of working to the person, as I don’t believe one approach fits everyone.
My professional journey and life experiences have shaped the therapist I am today. As a former athlete, I understand the impact of resilience, identity, pressure, change and the expectations we can place on ourselves.
Alongside my private practice, I have experience working within the justice system as a counsellor, including supporting women in prison. I have also worked with people affected by domestic abuse, sexual abuse, trauma and other difficult life experiences.
These experiences have given me a genuine insight of how complex life can be and the importance of feeling heard without judgement. I offer a warm, confidential and supportive environment .
You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma, relationship difficulties or a challenging period in your life. Equally, you don’t have to be struggling to benefit from therapy. You may simply want time to reflect, gain a deeper understanding of yourself or consider what comes next.
How I work
My approach is person-centred, integrative and trauma-informed. I take time to understand your experiences, relationships, emotions, strengths and the ways you have learned to cope.
Our work may involve reflective exploration of past experiences Alongside reflection and insight, we can explore practical strategies to help you manage difficulties.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of good therapy. My aim is to offer a respectful and accepting environment where you can be honest, challenge yourself when you feel ready and work at a pace that feels right for you.
Therapy doesn’t always have to be about fixing something. Sometimes it is about gaining clarity, reconnecting with yourself and creating the confidence and tools to move forward.
Practice description
when we work together, I believe that feeling understood, accepted and heard without judgement is at the heart of meaningful therapeutic work. I aim to build a genuine therapeutic relationship grounded in warmth, honesty, compassion and respect, where you can feel comfortable being yourself.
I recognise that talking about difficult or deeply personal experiences can take courage. There is no pressure to have the right words, I believe therapy should feel accessible and not confusing or overly clinical, so I use language that is relevant to your experiences and easy to understand. It is important to me that you feel involved and understand the work we are doing together.
Therapy can offer an opportunity to explore feelings of stuckness, recognise patterns that may be holding you back and consider new possibilities.
My role is not to tell you how to live your life, but to support you in exploring different perspectives, reconnecting with your strengths and developing a deeper understanding of yourself.
Together, we can make room for new possibilities and find ways forward that feel right for you.
My first session
The first step towards counselling can feel overwhelming, so I aim to make you feel welcome .
I offer a free 30 minute initial session where we can get to know each other, talk about what has brought you to therapy and explore how I might support you.
There is no pressure to share more than you feel ready to.
This is also an opportunity for you to see whether you feel comfortable working with me. I believe that building a trusting therapeutic relationship is an important part of the counselling process.
We can also discuss practical matters, including confidentiality, session frequency and fees, so you know what to expect.I offer both in-person and online sessions and welcome any questions you may have.
