About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am Tiff (she/her). I offer a warm, calm, non-judgemental place that feels safe for the exploration of difficult or painful things at your own pace.
My decision to train in counselling and psychotherapy was informed by my experience of my upbringing in a single-parent family in a diverse environment. As well as my experience of attending therapy as an adult.
I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Minster Centre, one of the longest established and most highly regarded centres for integrative training, and a BA in Psychology from Liverpool University.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and I adhere to BACP ethical guidelines and standards in all areas of my work.
I have worked with a wide range of clients including neurodivergent clients, older clients, and new mothers. I have an interest in the experience of isolation, or of feeling "other". This could be due to life circumstances or as a state of mind whereby contact with others has become, or has always been, limited or difficult.
I am interested in sensing the complexities and uniqueness of your struggles or unease, as well as your successes and resources, wherever we may find either.
Practice description
We all face difficulties at various times in our lives. Something new might've impacted you or something older might've come up. There are many reasons for coming to therapy.
Working to get to know yourself and your experiences, in confidentiality with someone who is not part of your everyday relationships, can enable things to become clearer. This in turn can allow you to discover how to meet whatever has brought you to therapy, in the ways that are right for you.
My first session
Starting therapy can be daunting so I offer a free 15 minute call. Alternatively you can book an exploratory first session if you would like to find out more or have questions before starting regular sessions.
If we agree to start working together, in the first session we will look at your history, what brought you, and your hopes and aims in therapy. We can get a feel for whether we are a good fit for working together and we can also review at 6 weeks and throughout our work together.
Sessions are 50 minutes, weekly at the same time, or sometimes twice weekly if required. The weekly slot will be yours and can't be given to anyone else.
Most of my work is open ended. We can work together to understand how long is right for you, when is the right time for our work to end, and how long we should allow for finishing our work together.
Locations: I see clients in Forest Hill, a few minutes' walk from Forest Hill Station. And Queens Park, an eight minute walk from Queens Park Station and 12 minutes from Brondesbury Park Station.
If you are a new parent, your baby is welcome in the room with us up to one year of age.
Rooms at both locations are wheelchair/pushchair accessible, located on the ground floor, and lighting and temperature can be adjusted. Please enquire if you require any specific accommodations.
