Availability
I offer flexible appointments seven days a week, including daytime, evening and weekend sessions, recognising that finding time for yourself can be challenging alongside work, family and other commitments.
Face-to-face appointments are available at Healing Health in Teddington, where I work from a private, comfortable and confidential counselling room. The space provides a calm and welcoming environment in which to explore your thoughts and feelings without interruption. Parking is available directly outside, making the practice easily accessible.
Online counselling or home visits are also available seven days a week, offering the flexibility to attend sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own home or another suitable space. This can be particularly helpful for those balancing your time and ability to attend a appointment in person.
I am also a recognised provider with Aviva Health Insurance and can offer counselling to eligible Aviva members.
Sessions are 50 minutes, with both short-term and longer-term counselling available depending on your individual needs and circumstances.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor, BACP Registered Member and Registered Nurse, bringing nearly 30 years of professional experience supporting adults, young people and families through some of life's most challenging circumstances. I am currently undertaking Level 5 training qualifying as a psychotherapist in June 2027.
My background includes 17 years in senior Accident & Emergency leadership, supporting individuals and families through trauma, sudden loss, bereavement and life-changing events. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the emotional impact of difficult and unexpected circumstances.
For the past 11 years, I have worked in education, currently holding a senior leadership role in safeguarding, health and wellbeing. I have extensive experience supporting young people experiencing anxiety, depression, self-harm, disordered eating, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), neurodivergence, examination pressures and complex family difficulties.
I also work within family contact centres, supporting adults navigating separation, divorce, relationship breakdown, court proceedings, child contact arrangements and the emotional impact of changing family dynamics.
My Therapeutic Approach
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural (CBT) approaches, recognising that each person's experiences and needs are unique.
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore difficult feelings, relationships and life experiences at your own pace. My approach is collaborative, with an emphasis on building trust, developing self-understanding and supporting meaningful change.
I offer short-term and longer-term counselling to adults and young people, both face-to-face in Teddington, Twickenham and online.
Practice description
I recognise that people come to counselling for many different reasons, and that behind every experience is an individual with their own story, relationships and way of understanding the world.
My approach is warm, grounded and collaborative. I bring a wealth of professional experience in understanding human distress, trauma and complex life circumstances, while recognising that you are the expert in your own experiences. I won't make assumptions, offer quick solutions or tell you what you should do.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. At the heart of my practice is taking the time to truly listen, hear and understand your experiences. Together, we may explore past experiences, relationships and patterns that influence how you feel today, or focus on present challenges, drawing on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) techniques where helpful.
When working with young people, I recognise that talking directly about feelings is not always easy. Some may prefer a more creative or informal approach, incorporating play-based activities or walking therapy, allowing them to explore their thoughts and emotions in a way that feels more natural and comfortable.I value genuine conversation, curiosity and reflection, allowing you the space to explore thoughts and feelings that may have been difficult to express or understand. There is no expectation to have all the answers. Sometimes simply being heard, perhaps for the first time, can be an important part of understanding ourselves and finding a way forward.
My first session
I offer a free introductory telephone conversation, giving you the opportunity to tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions and consider whether working together feels right for you. There is no obligation to book a session afterwards.
Our first counselling session is an opportunity for us to meet, begin getting to know one another and explore what you would like from therapy. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what to say or have everything worked out beforehand. We will discuss how we might work together, including your hopes for counselling, confidentiality, boundaries and practical arrangements. Together, we will agree on a counselling agreement that reflects our work and provides a shared understanding of what you can expect. This is not something set in stone; we can revisit it whenever needed as our therapeutic relationship develops. Some people have a particular difficulty they want to explore, while others need time to understand what is troubling them. Both are equally welcome.
Approximately every eight weeks, we will take time to reflect on how you are finding counselling, what feels helpful and whether your needs or priorities have changed. These reviews are an opportunity to recognise progress, explore anything that may feel difficult and consider whether to continue with our current approach or work in a different way.
I work within an established counselling practice and engage in regular professional supervision and ongoing development to support safe, ethical and reflective practice.
Above all, I want you to feel involved in your counselling journey, with the freedom to ask questions, share feedback and shape how we work together.
