People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. You may feel anxious, low, overwhelmed or stuck. Something may have happened that you’re finding difficult to make sense of. Or perhaps you’ve spent so long coping and looking after other people that you’re no longer sure what you need. You don’t need a clear reason or the right words before getting in touch.

I’m a person-centred, humanistic psychotherapist. Put simply, I won’t tell you how to live or treat you as a problem that needs fixing. I’ll listen carefully, try to understand things from your point of view and be honest and present with you. I believe you know yourself better than anyone else, even when you’ve lost trust in your own feelings.

As a queer therapist, I particularly welcome LGBTQIA+ clients. You might want to explore sexuality, gender, relationships, family or belonging. Or you may simply want a therapist with whom you don’t need to explain that part of your life. My practice is open to people of all identities and backgrounds.

You can bring the parts of yourself that feel clear and the parts that don’t. There’s no right way to do therapy, and you don’t have to make yourself easier to understand before you arrive.

About me and my therapy practice

Therapy with me is a conversation, not a lesson or a set programme. You can bring whatever is on your mind that day. Sometimes there’ll be something specific you want to talk about; on other days, you may not know where to start. That’s completely okay.

I’m warm and curious. I won’t sit in silence for the whole session, but I’ll give you time to think and feel.

Practice description

People come to me with anxiety, grief, trauma, shame, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, questions about identity or neurodivergence, changes in family life, or a sense that they no longer feel like themselves. You might cry, laugh, swear, sit quietly, change the subject or not know what you feel yet. You don’t need to be a “good” client.

Over time, therapy can help you understand yourself more clearly, trust your feelings and make choices that feel more your own. We’ll go at your pace.

Sessions are 50 minutes and take place online via Zoom. I offer a sliding scale of £45–£75, so you can choose the fee that’s manageable for you. We can agree to work for a set period or leave things open-ended and review them together.

My first session

You may wonder what to say during your first session, how much to share, or whether what you’re going through is “serious enough”. You don’t need to prepare anything.

We’ll start wherever you are. I’ll invite you to tell me a little about what has brought you to therapy and what you hope it might offer. I may ask some straightforward questions about how things are for you now and any support you already have. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable. I won’t expect your whole life story in one session.

There’ll be time for you to ask me questions too. We’ll go through confidentiality, how sessions work, fees and cancellations, and whether you would prefer shorter-term or open-ended therapy. You don’t have to decide everything straight away.

The first session is also a chance to see how it feels to talk with me. Finding a therapist you can connect with matters. If I don’t feel like the right person for you, there’s no pressure to book another session.
