About me and my therapy practice

My approach is person-centred, rooted in the belief that you are the expert in your own life and your own story. I offer a calm, reflective and non-judgemental space where you can slow down, feel heard and begin to make sense of what you are experiencing.

I see therapy as a collaborative relationship. Rather than telling you what you should do, I work alongside you, gently exploring your experiences, patterns and perspectives and supporting you to find a way forward that feels right for you.

Alongside my person-centred foundation, I draw on Transactional Analysis, Narrative Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy, tailoring our work to you rather than applying a fixed approach.

I work with a broad range of experiences including anxiety, depression, relationships, confidence and self-esteem, grief and loss, life transitions and uncertainty. I also have extensive experience supporting people living with chronic and terminal illness, cancer and end-of-life issues.

Above all, I aim to create a space where you can come as you are, feel genuinely understood, and explore your story with compassion.

Practice description

I offer person-centred counselling for adults in Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone and online.

My practice provides a calm, confidential and welcoming space for people who may be struggling with difficult emotions, life changes, relationships or simply feeling that something needs to change. I work with a broad range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, confidence and self-esteem, relationship difficulties, uncertainty and significant life transitions.

I also have extensive experience supporting people affected by chronic and terminal illness, cancer and end-of-life issues, including the emotional impact on individuals and those close to them.

I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, depending on your circumstances and what feels right for you. My aim is to provide a thoughtful and compassionate space where you can feel heard, understood and able to explore what matters to you.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, understand what has brought you to counselling and begin to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship.

I may ask more questions and make more notes than I would in subsequent sessions, as this helps me build a clear understanding of your circumstances, what you would like support with and what you hope to gain from counselling.

We will discuss how we will work together, including confidentiality, boundaries and what you can expect from the therapeutic process. There will also be time for you to ask any questions and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.

Where anxiety or depression are presenting concerns, I may use brief questionnaires to establish a baseline. These can help us understand how you are feeling at the beginning of therapy and monitor changes over time.

You don’t need to prepare anything or know exactly where to start. We can take things at your pace and begin with whatever feels most important to you.
