About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Sarah, a person-centred counsellor and the founder of Counselling Safe Harbour.
Sometimes life feels overwhelming, and finding the words to explain how you feel can be difficult. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted, just as you are. You don’t need to arrive with everything worked out or know exactly where to begin. I understand that reaching out for support can feel like a big step.
My approach centres on building a trusting relationship. I will listen carefully and work alongside you as you explore your feelings, experiences and what matters to you. You can set the pace, and we can make room for things that may have felt difficult to share elsewhere.
I have experience supporting people with anxiety, low mood, bereavement, trauma and significant life changes, including work with military veterans and survivors of sexual violence and abuse. I work with sensitivity to the effects of trauma, respecting your choices and readiness to talk.
Whether you are facing a particular difficulty or simply feel that something isn’t right, we can explore it together.
Practice description
I welcome adults and young people aged 16 and over from across Moray. We can meet face to face in Elgin, or online wherever you are in the UK.
This is time for you—a chance to pause, talk things through and explore how you’re feeling, without pressure to have the right words. We’ll take things at your pace and check in along the way about how the sessions are feeling for you.
Sessions last up to one hour and cost £40. If you’d like to find out more, please get in touch. We can talk about appointment times and anything you need to help you feel comfortable attending.
Before we begin, we’ll talk through how counselling works, including confidentiality, its limits and how I look after your information. You’ll have space to ask questions so you know what to expect.
I also have regular professional supervision and ongoing training to support thoughtful, responsible care.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call so we can get to know a little about each other. You can share what has brought you to counselling, ask questions and consider whether my approach feels right for you. There is no obligation to book a session afterwards.
If you decide to go ahead, our first counselling session will give us time to explore what you would like support with and what you hope to gain from counselling. You don’t need to tell your whole story straight away; we will go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
We will also talk through our counselling agreement, including confidentiality and its limits, fees and cancellation arrangements. There will be time for any questions you have.
Counselling sessions cost £40 and last up to one hour.
