About me and my therapy practice
Welcome. I am a BACP-registered integrative counsellor, based in South Devon. I offer a gentle, warm, non-judgemental space where all aspects of yourself are welcome.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, and low self-esteem. Together, we can gently uncover the patterns, defence mechanisms, and subconscious reasons behind why we do what we do. This process isn’t about getting rid of your emotions. Instead, it is about making space for them, understanding what they are communicating, and discovering when and why they first developed to keep you safe. Learning how to meet your inner world with curiosity and kindness rather than fear and judgement.
Getting to know them this way helps so they no longer control your choices. From that awareness, we gain the ability to make changes and gain a true sense of empowerment.
In our sessions, we don’t just look at symptoms; we look at what drives them. Much of our distress arises when our primal human needs are disrupted or left unfulfilled. Together, we will listen to those signals and work with them to hear what is missing or under threat.
Because I work integratively, we are not limited to one fixed way of working. I draw on different approaches depending on what feels most useful for you. I work within these modalities: IFS, Schema Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Our collaborative work is client-led, with the goal of fostering greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and a true sense of empowerment.
Practice description
If it feels right for you, we can use simple, creative tools in our sessions to map out what’s going on inside your mind from a fresh perspective.
Sometimes, trying to untangle our thoughts just by thinking about them feels impossible. Instead, we can use everyday objects, shapes, or cards to represent different "sides" of you—like your inner critic, the part of you that feels anxious, or the part that wants to please everyone.
By putting these different feelings onto objects outside of yourself, you get to step back and look at them like a map. It lets you see how they interact, helps you hear the quieter thoughts you usually ignore, and uncovers why those loud, dominant inner voices are working so hard to protect you. You start to see which parts are clashing, and why they do what they do. It’s a powerful way to clear up the inner chaos.
Because our bodies and nervous systems calm down through physical, real-world experiences, these creative exercises give your brain a direct pathway to feel safe. It gently turns down that overwhelming "fight-or-flight" panic that can so easily take over.
Once your mind and body feel settled, you can finally get a clear, fresh view of who you are and where you are right now.
