About me and my therapy practice
My approach is person-centred and relational, and at the heart of my work is the belief that feeling genuinely heard and understood can create the space for meaningful change.
Maybe you've spent a long time trying to make sense of things on your own. Maybe your thoughts feel tangled, you're carrying feelings you haven't had much space for, or you've found yourself repeating patterns that you don't quite understand. Sometimes life can become so noisy that it's difficult to hear your own thoughts, feelings and needs clearly.
Counselling can offer a little more space around all of that.
I offer a warm, thoughtful and non-judgemental relationship where you can slow things down and explore what is happening for you. We can begin wherever feels most important to you and see what unfolds.
I bring professional knowledge, curiosity, openness and a willingness to really listen. Together, we can become curious about what is happening beneath the surface. We can look at the experiences that have shaped you, the ways you've learnt to cope, the relationships that matter to you and the things you may need now.
I have experience working with neurodivergence, addiction, attachment, trauma-related experiences, anxiety, low mood, relationships and difficult life experiences. I'm particularly invested in working with people who have felt misunderstood, othered, or as though they've had to work hard to fit themselves into the world around them.
My aim is to offer a space where you can begin to understand yourself more clearly and reconnect with what matters to you.
You bring your experience. I'll bring the space, curiosity and professional responsibility to explore it with you.
Practice description
Centred Space Counselling is my private practice in Hadfield, Glossop. I’ve created the space with the experience of the person coming through the door in mind. Somewhere comfortable, welcoming and private, where you can settle in and feel at ease.
I’m a Level 5 qualified counsellor, having completed my Foundation Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Sheffield Hallam University with distinction. I continue to develop my practice through further study, professional development, supervision and reflective practice.
If you’re curious about Centred Space and would like to get a better feel for the practice before getting in touch, you’re welcome to visit my website. You can have a look around, find out a little more about me and my approach, and see the environment I’ve created.
If you’re considering counselling but aren’t quite sure where to begin, I also offer a free 20-minute chat. It’s an opportunity to talk about what’s bringing you to counselling, ask any questions and get a sense of whether working together might feel right for you.
My first session
Your first session is a chance to begin finding your way into the space together. You can bring whatever feels most present for you, and we can take some time to explore it together.
We’ll spend some time getting to know one another and talking about what has brought you to counselling. We’ll also go through the practical side of working together, including confidentiality, boundaries and our counselling agreement, so that you know what to expect from our sessions.
I’ll ask you to complete some basic client information before or around your first session, but there isn’t a formal assessment or checklist you need to work through. I’m more interested in getting a sense of you and what matters to you than fitting your experience into a set of questions.
You’re welcome to ask questions, take your time and notice how it feels to be here. There is no expectation that you need to know where this is going yet. We can start where you are and take it from there.
