About me and my therapy practice
I offer a warm, supportive and collaborative approach, where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life without feeling judged.
My main approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). We will work together to understand how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours may be affecting each other and keeping difficulties going. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to you, your circumstances and what you would like to achieve.
I believe therapy works best when it feels like something we are doing together. I will not tell you what you should do or expect you to make changes before you feel ready. Instead, we can explore difficulties at a pace that feels manageable, while gradually developing practical ways to help you move forward.
Where helpful, I may introduce CBT tools and exercises that you can use between sessions. I also believe that understanding why we respond in certain ways can make our experiences feel less confusing, so I may offer information and explanations that are relevant to what you are experiencing.
My aim is to provide a space where you feel heard and understood, while also helping you develop skills and insights that you can continue to use beyond therapy.
Practice description
You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed or stuck in patterns that are difficult to change. Perhaps you spend a lot of time worrying about what might happen, replaying situations in your mind, doubting yourself or feeling that you are not good enough. You may be feeling low, struggling with confidence, dealing with stress or finding it difficult to adjust to changes in your life.
I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood and depression, low self-esteem, stress, OCD, relationship difficulties, sleep problems and life transitions.
Sometimes you may know exactly what you would like help with. At other times, you may simply know that things do not feel right and that you would like something to change. You do not need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy.
My aim is to help you make sense of what you are experiencing, understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and find practical ways to make changes that are meaningful to you.
I offer online counselling to adults across the UK by video or telephone.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you would like help with.
As part of the first session, I will complete an initial assessment with you. This involves asking some questions about what you are currently experiencing, how it is affecting you, relevant background information, and your current wellbeing and safety. This helps me understand your needs and consider how I can best support you.
We will also talk about what you would like to get from therapy and begin to identify what you would like to work towards. There is no expectation for you to share everything in the first session, and we will go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
You will also have the opportunity to ask me any questions about therapy or the way I work. Most importantly, the first session gives us both a chance to see whether working together feels like a good fit.
