About me and my therapy practice

At the heart of my work are empathy, acceptance, honesty and respect. I aim to offer a space where you can be yourself without feeling that you have to please, perform, minimise your feelings or worry about being judged.
Sometimes patterns such as putting others first, avoiding conflict, struggling to say no or finding it difficult to express your own needs can develop over many years. Together, we can explore these patterns with compassion and curiosity, helping you to understand yourself more deeply, recognise your own needs and begin to trust your feelings and choices.
If you have experienced adverse childhood experiences, domestic abuse or difficult relationships, I understand that feeling safe enough to talk can take time. There is no expectation that you disclose everything straight away. You remain in control of what you choose to share, and we can work at a pace that feels manageable for you.
I also work with grief and loss in its many forms. This may include bereavement, the end of a relationship, changes to your health, or the loss of the future you had imagined.
Receiving a diagnosis can also bring a wide range of emotions, including uncertainty, sadness, anger, fear, relief or a sense that life has suddenly changed. Counselling can give you space to explore what that diagnosis means for you, your identity, your relationships and your future.
I offer face-to-face counselling along the Fylde Coast, as well as online counselling for clients who prefer the flexibility of meeting remotely.

Practice description

Do you often put other people’s needs before your own, find it difficult to say no, or worry about disappointing others? Perhaps experiences from your childhood or past relationships are still affecting how you feel about yourself, your relationships, or the choices you make today.
You may be experiencing grief or loss, struggling within a relationship, recovering from domestic abuse or a controlling relationship, or coming to terms with a diagnosis or significant change in your life. Perhaps you have spent so much time looking after others that you have lost touch with what you need or who you are.
Whatever has brought you here, you do not have to work through it alone.
I am a Registered Member of BACP and a person-centred counsellor. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgmental space where you can talk openly, feel heard and explore what is happening for you at a pace that feels right.
I have a particular interest in working with people experiencing people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, adverse childhood experiences, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, low self-worth, the impact of domestic abuse, and the emotional impact of receiving or coming to terms with a diagnosis.
My person-centred approach means that I will not tell you what you should do or how you should feel. Instead, I will listen carefully and seek to understand your experience from your perspective.
You do not need to know exactly what you want to talk about or have everything worked out before coming to counselling. We can begin with whatever feels most important to you.

My first session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin exploring what has brought you to counselling and what you would like from our work together.

There is no pressure to tell me everything at once. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable, and we can go at a pace that feels right for you.

The first session also gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and to get a sense of me and the way I work. Finding the right counsellor is important, and I want you to feel comfortable with the person you choose.

You do not need to have the right words or know exactly where to begin. We can start with where you are now.
