Availability
I currently have availability for new clients and offer both face-to-face and online appointments.
I understand that finding time for therapy alongside work, family and other commitments can sometimes be difficult, so I offer a range of appointment times throughout the week, including some daytime and evening appointments.
Face-to-face sessions take place from my comfortable and private practice in Cheltenham. If you would prefer the convenience of accessing therapy from your own home, I also offer secure online sessions.
Sessions usually last 55 minutes. I believe that finding the right therapist is an important part of the process, so I offer a free, no-obligation introductory telephone call before you decide whether you would like to book your first session. This gives us an opportunity to talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy, what you would like support with and whether you feel I might be the right therapist for you.
I aim to respond to new enquiries as soon as possible and will let you know what appointment times I currently have available.
If you would like to arrange an introductory call or ask any questions before booking, please feel welcome to get in touch.
About me and my therapy practice
I'm a warm, approachable pluralistic counsellor, psychotherapist and hypnotherapist who offers a safe, confidential space where you can feel heard without judgement. Together, we'll explore what's troubling you and find a way forward that feels right for you.
As a pluralistic practitioner, I believe that therapy should be shaped around you rather than expecting you to fit into one particular therapeutic model. I draw upon person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural approaches, adapting the way we work according to your individual needs, experiences and goals.
Alongside my therapeutic practice, I am a practising solicitor and have extensive professional experience supporting people through complex, challenging and stressful circumstances.
I also have experience in counselling education, having worked as a counselling tutor and assessor. I currently serve as Director of Education and Compliance Officer with the National Council for Hypnotherapy, contributing to professional standards, education and good practice within the profession.
I undertake regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development (CPD) to ensure my practice remains safe, ethical, reflective and informed by current professional standards.
Practice description
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, stress, low mood, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, life changes, loss, overwhelming emotions and the impact of difficult or painful past experiences. You may have a clear idea of what you would like help with, or simply feel that something isn't quite right and want the opportunity to understand yourself better.
Alongside my counselling and psychotherapy qualifications, I am an experienced hypnotherapist, holding the NCFE-accredited Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) and a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. I am also a practising solicitor, which has given me extensive experience of supporting and communicating with people through challenging, stressful and often life-changing situations.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth and collaborative. I won't tell you what you should do or how you should feel. Instead, we'll work together to understand what may be keeping you stuck, recognise patterns that are no longer helping you and explore meaningful ways of moving forward.
I offer both face-to-face and online counselling, and I welcome you to get in touch for an initial conversation to see whether working together feels right for you.
My first session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin exploring what has brought you to therapy. There is no pressure to share anything before you feel ready, and we can work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
We will talk about what you are currently experiencing, what you would like to be different and what you hope to gain from therapy. I may ask some questions to help me understand a little more about you, your circumstances and any previous experiences of therapy, but I don't believe that a first session should feel like a formal assessment or a list of questions to work through.
I will also explain how I work, including confidentiality and what you can expect from our sessions. There will be plenty of opportunity for you to ask questions too.
My approach is pluralistic, which means I don't believe there is one single way of working that suits everyone. From the beginning, we can talk about what you find helpful, what you don't, and how we might work together in a way that feels right for you. Some people want space to talk and be heard, while others prefer a more active approach with practical strategies, reflection or clearly defined goals. We can adapt our work as we go.
Most importantly, the first session gives you an opportunity to experience what it is like to work with me and decide whether you feel comfortable continuing. A good therapeutic relationship matters, and there is never any obligation to book further sessions.
First sessions last 55 minutes and are charged at my usual session fee of £55.
