About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Jacqueline, a qualified and BACP registered counsellor (MBACP).

I work in an integrative, relational and compassionate way. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to counselling. The relationship we build together is at the heart of my work, and I adapt our sessions around you, what you need and how you make sense of your experiences.

I have a particular interest in ADHD, autism and neurodivergence. You may have a diagnosis, be waiting for an assessment, or simply be beginning to wonder whether neurodivergence could help you understand yourself differently. I work in a neuro-affirming way, which means I don't see difference as something that needs to be fixed.

Together, we might explore things such as masking, overwhelm, emotional intensity, anger, rejection, relationships, identity, shame or simply the experience of feeling different or misunderstood.

I also work with anxiety, low mood, loss, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, stress and difficult life experiences.

Alongside my counselling training, I also hold a CMI Level 5 qualification in Coaching and Mentoring. Where helpful, I can draw on coaching skills to support personal development, explore goals and help you think about changes you would like to make.

Most importantly, I aim to offer a warm, accepting and non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself.

Practice description

Practice description

I offer counselling to adults and young people aged 16+.

I work in a relational, integrative and neuro-affirming way, adapting how we work to you as an individual.

I recognise that people communicate, process emotions and make sense of their experiences differently. Counselling doesn't have to look the same for everybody. We can talk, slow things down, use visual or creative approaches, explore different parts of yourself, or simply begin with whatever feels most important when you arrive.

I particularly welcome neurodivergent clients and people exploring possible ADHD or autism later in life. A formal diagnosis isn't necessary.

Compassion is an important part of my work. Rather than seeing difficult emotions or behaviours as something that needs to be fixed, we can become curious about where they came from, what they might be communicating and what they may have been doing for you.

My aim is to create an accepting space where you don't have to mask, perform or find the "right" way to do therapy.

My first session

I offer a free 15- 20 minute telephone consultation before booking your first session. This gives us a chance to briefly talk about what has brought you to counselling, for you to ask any questions, and to get a sense of whether I might be the right counsellor for you. There is no obligation to book a session afterwards.

If we decide to work together, our first session gives us more time to get to know each other and explore what you would like from counselling. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what to say or having everything worked out.

Some people find it easy to talk straight away, while others need more time. We will go at a pace that feels manageable for you, and we can talk about anything that might make counselling more accessible or comfortable, including how you prefer to communicate or process information.

Finding the right counsellor matters, so there is no pressure to find the “right” words or do therapy in a particular way.
