About me and my therapy practice

Perhaps you've reached a point where things feel difficult, overwhelming or just not quite right, and you're wondering what to do next. You may not even know exactly what you need — only that you don't want to keep feeling the way you do.

I’m Tracy, a counsellor offering a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and be yourself. Sometimes having someone genuinely listen, without judgement or expectation, can help us begin to make sense of what we're experiencing.

I work in an integrative way, drawing on different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. I believe counselling should be a collaborative process, working at your pace and creating space to explore what is going on for you, understand yourself more deeply and consider what you might want to change.

I can support you with a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low self-esteem and confidence, relationship difficulties, life changes, feeling overwhelmed, and times when you may simply feel stuck or unsure about what comes next.

I offer in-person counselling from my therapy room in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, as well as online sessions.

If something in what you've read resonates with you, please get in touch to talk about what you're looking for and whether counselling with me could be a good fit.

Practice description

My practice offers a private and comfortable space where you can step away from the demands of everyday life and have time that is focused entirely on you.

I believe counselling is a collaborative process. There is no fixed agenda or expectation about what you should talk about. Sessions are guided by what feels important to you at that particular time, whether that means making sense of something that has happened, exploring patterns in your life or relationships, or simply having space to think and reflect.

I offer weekly 60 minute sessions, either face-to-face from my therapy room in Cheadle Hulme or online. I usually recommend meeting weekly, particularly at the beginning, as this can help create continuity and a sense of progress.

My practice is open to adults and I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, depending on your needs and what we agree together.

My first session

Your first session is an opportunity for us to meet and for you to get a sense of what counselling with me might be like. We can talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you would like support with and what you hope to get from the process.

You don't need to prepare anything beforehand or know exactly what you want to say. It is completely normal to feel unsure or nervous about a first session, and there is no expectation that you need to have everything figured out.

We will spend some time talking about contracting and how we will work together, including confidentiality, boundaries and the practical arrangements for our sessions. You'll have the opportunity to ask any questions and make sure you understand and feel comfortable with the way we will work.

Most importantly, the first session is about beginning to build a therapeutic relationship and seeing whether you feel comfortable working with me. Finding the right counsellor is important, and it needs to feel right for you too.
