About me and my therapy practice

Welcome to Ribble Valley Counselling

Hi, I’m Georgina, an MBACP counsellor and qualified MBABCP Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. I offer counselling to adults and young people across Lancashire and throughout the UK.

I currently work within NHS Talking Therapies, supporting people with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties. This experience has given me a broad understanding of the challenges people can face, alongside a warm, compassionate and professional approach.

I aim to create a space where you can feel comfortable being open and honest, without fear of judgement. I work integratively and in a trauma-informed way, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs, while recognising how past experiences can shape how we feel, think and relate to others.

You may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, overthinking or feeling emotionally drained. Perhaps you’re finding relationships difficult, being hard on yourself, or carrying feelings of shame that are difficult to talk about. Whatever brings you to counselling, we can take time to understand what you’re experiencing without pressure to have everything figured out.

I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to support you in developing greater self-understanding, recognising patterns and building confidence in yourself and your choices.

I work with a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, OCD, neurodiversity, shame, bereavement and loss, and relationship difficulties.

Starting counselling can feel daunting, especially when you’re unsure where to begin. You don’t need to have the right words or know exactly what you need. We can start where you are and take things one step at a time.

Practice description

Sometimes life can become difficult to manage, even when you can’t quite explain why. You may be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stress or low mood, finding that past experiences are still affecting you, or simply feeling stuck and unsure how to move forward. You might be experiencing burnout or pressure at work, struggling with relationships, or looking for support while exploring ADHD or autism.

Counselling can offer a chance to step away from the demands of everyday life and have some time that is just for you. I provide a confidential space where you can talk openly, feel listened to and explore what’s happening without judgement.

Our work will be shaped around you and what you need. We may explore patterns that keep repeating, ways of managing difficult emotions, or practical strategies to make everyday life feel more manageable. We can also work towards developing a kinder relationship with yourself, building confidence and finding ways to feel more settled and able to cope.

I offer online, face-to-face and telephone sessions, giving you the choice of what feels most comfortable. Online and telephone sessions can offer flexibility around work, home and other commitments, while face-to-face sessions provide a private and welcoming space away from the demands of everyday life.

Confidentiality is an important part of my practice, helping you feel able to speak honestly and openly. I work within professional and ethical guidelines, with regular supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure the support I offer remains safe, thoughtful and effective.

If you’re considering counselling but aren’t sure whether it’s right for you, you’re welcome to get in touch. We can have a conversation about what you’re looking for and whether I might be the right person to support you.

My first session

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, so I want the process to feel as comfortable and straightforward as possible.

I offer a free initial consultation, usually by telephone. This is an opportunity for us to have an informal conversation, for you to ask any questions and share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. It also gives us both the chance to see whether we feel like a good fit. There is no obligation to book further sessions and no charge for this conversation.

If you decide to continue, our first full session is a chance to begin getting to know one another and to think about what has brought you to counselling. We can talk about what you’ve been experiencing, what you would like support with and what you hope to gain from therapy. We can then agree together on how we might work towards this.

You never have to talk about anything before you feel ready. I understand that opening up can take time, and building trust is an important part of our work together. There is no expectation that you need to have everything worked out before coming to therapy.

Sessions are available online via a secure platform, by telephone, or face-to-face where possible, giving you flexibility to choose what works best for you.

If you’re thinking about counselling and would like to have a chat first, you’re very welcome to get in touch. We can take it from there, one step at a time.
