About me and my therapy practice
G'day!
If you are looking for a generic face who just nods and asks "how does that make you feel?", I am probably not the right fit.
Therapy does not have to be clinical, cold, or entirely focused on what is "wrong" with you. I offer a grounded, honest, and collaborative space to untangle whatever is going on in your life. I bring warmth, a healthy dose of humour, and genuine realness into the room, working alongside you to help you rediscover your sense of self.
My Approach
It puts you in the driving seat, except now with a navigator, map, GPS, conversations, detours, rest-stops, motorways and dirt roads.
All informed from a few core frameworks:
Person-Centred Counselling: This is the foundation. You are the expert on your own life; not me, or your boss, or your family or friends; and you will always be fully heard and accepted here without judgment.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): When the noise gets too loud, CBT offers practical, actionable tools for managing immediate anxiety and navigating difficult thought patterns.
Attachment Theory: Sometimes we have to look in the rearview mirror to understand how past relationships and early experiences are driving your current reality.
Practice description
What You Can Expect
Expect a genuine conversation, not 50 mins of chit-chat while avoiding "the thing". I'll tell you what I'm actually noticing rather than just handing your own words back to you, and I won't be chasing a diagnosis or a tidy label for what's going on.
If a session isn't hitting the mark, I'd rather hear that directly than have you quietly stick it out.
What We Can Work On...
AI Fatigue: If you are feeling drained by tech overload, anxious about how fast your industry is changing, or just sick of living in an increasingly automated world.
Workplace Burnout: Maybe you have found yourself pushing way past your limit, dealing with constant stress, or feeling like your value is tied entirely to what you produce.
Imposter Syndrome: If you are carrying around the quiet fear that you will eventually be "found out," battling perfectionism, or holding yourself to impossible standards.
Relationship Patterns: Maybe you keep finding yourself stuck in the same frustrating dynamics with others, and you want to finally learn how to set boundaries without the guilt.
Identity Loss: If you have lost track of who you actually are underneath all the roles you play for everyone else, especially after a major life or career shift.
Anxiety: Maybe you are dealing with a mind that will not switch off, physical tension, or the constant feeling that something bad is about to happen.
Depression: If you have found yourself stuck in a low mood, feeling apathetic, or just completely disconnected from the world around you.
Difficult Pasts: Maybe you want a space to make sense of earlier experiences or past events that are still quietly steering your life today.
Grief and Loss: If you are navigating a bereavement, a tough adjustment, or the simple fact that things did not turn out the way you had planned.
My first session
The first session or two is about getting the lay of the land: what's brought you here, what you're hoping will shift.
From there we settle into a rhythm, usually weekly to begin with, adjusting the pace as things move.
As we progress, therapy can sometimes make people feel worse (like the day after a gym session, except it's happening IN the session). Some sessions will suck, 'cos we're finally facing the thing we've been hiding from. It can be uncomfortable, embarrassing, revealing, and maybe more. And that's where some of the best growth comes from.
That first session is charged at the same rate as any other: no different pricing, no catch. It's not a formal assessment with a questionnaire to fill in; it's more a conversation where I gather a bit of background: what's going on, what you've tried before, so we've got a shared starting point. You'll also get a feel for whether I'm the right fit, and if not, that's completely fine. There's no pressure to continue.
