About me and my therapy practice
Welcome i am Debbie and I am a qualified humanistic counsellor and i also work in an integrative way, drawing on different counselling approaches to suit your individual needs.
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, but you do not have to face things alone. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, understood and accepted without judgement. My aim is to offer you a safe, confidential and supportive space where you can talk openly and explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
My approach is warm, compassionate and down to earth. I draw on my training in person - centred counselling, Gestalt therapy, Transactional Analysis & Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and holistic approaches, adapting our work to your individual needs and circumstances.
I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you with care and understanding, helping you make sense of your experiences, develop greater self - awareness and find your own way forward.
Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, low self- esteem or simply feeling lost, you are welcome to get in touch. Together, we can work towards positive change, greater emotional wellbeing and a deeper understanding of yourself.
Practice description
At Enable Change Counselling, I offer a warm, welcoming, confidential and non- judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever may be troubling you.
I understand that everyone is different, so I tailor my approach to your individual needs rather than using the same method for everyone.
Counselling gives you the opportunity to explore difficult emotions, recognise patterns of behaviour, develop helpful coping strategies and gain a deeper understanding of yourself.
You do not need to know exactly what is wrong or have a clear idea of what you want to talk about before starting counselling. Sometimes you may simply feel that something is not quite right, and that is absolutely okay.
I offer face-to-face counselling from my private practice at City Way Health, The Windmill, Ratcliffe Way, Kent. I also provide online and telephone counselling if you would feel more comfortable receiving support from your own home.
My aim is to build a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable, respected and supported throughout your counselling journey.
At Enable Change Counselling, I believe that everyone has the potential for growth, healing and positive change.
My first session
I offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation before booking your first appointment.
In the first session, it is a relaxed opportunity for you to tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions you may have and see whether you feel comfortable working with me. There is no pressure or obligation to continue.
Also during this session, we will take some time to get to know each other and I will gently explain how counselling works, discuss confidentiality and go through our counselling agreement, so you know what to expect.
We can explore what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain from our sessions and any concerns or difficulties you may be experiencing. You do not need to have everything worked out beforehand, and you only need to share what feels right for you.
There is no pressure to talk about anything before you are ready. We will work together at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable for you.
Building trust and a strong therapeutic relationship is an important part of counselling, and I will support you with warmth, understanding and respect throughout the process.
