About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified integrative counsellor offering a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life.
I work with adults and young people aged 16+ and support people experiencing a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement, stress and feeling overwhelmed.
I believe counselling should be shaped around you as an individual. Everyone brings different experiences, relationships and ways of coping, so I do not use a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I work at a pace that feels right for you and focus on what you need from counselling.
I have a particular interest in trauma and addiction and understand how past experiences can continue to affect the way we think, feel, relate to others and see ourselves.
My aim is to offer a space where you feel heard, understood and able to explore difficult thoughts or feelings without judgement.
I offer face-to-face counselling in Stockport as well as online counselling across the UK.
Practice description
Counselling with me is collaborative. I will not tell you what to do or judge the choices you have made. Instead, we work together to understand what may be contributing to the difficulties you are experiencing and explore ways of moving forward.
Some clients come to counselling with a very clear issue they want to work on, while others simply know that something does not feel right. You do not need to have everything worked out before contacting me.
Depending on your needs, our work may involve exploring past experiences, relationships, patterns of thinking and behaviour, emotional responses, coping strategies and the way you see yourself.
My integrative approach allows me to adapt the way I work rather than expecting you to fit into one particular therapeutic model.
Sessions are 50 minutes and are usually held weekly, although frequency can be discussed depending on your circumstances. Counselling can be short or longer term and we can regularly review how you feel the work is progressing.
My first session
Before starting counselling, I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation. This gives you an opportunity to briefly tell me what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions and get a sense of whether you would feel comfortable working with me. There is no obligation to book afterwards.
Your first full counselling session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at my usual session fee of £60.
During the first session we will spend some time discussing what has brought you to counselling, what you would like support with and what you hope may change through therapy. We will also discuss confidentiality, boundaries and how we will work together.
You do not need to prepare anything in advance and there is no expectation that you share more than you feel comfortable with.
