About me and my therapy practice

Hi, my name is Grace and I have over 10 years’ experience of working within the field of mental health. I am a qualified Psychotherapist (MBACP, UKCP), but prior to this, I worked in various therapeutic roles across several different mental health settings. This has provided me with a diverse range of knowledge and experience in supporting people using holistic and relational approaches.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting adults, children in nursery, primary and secondary education, young adults aged 18–24, parents and professionals. My experience includes private practice, schools and higher education, pupil referral units (PRUs), mental health inpatient units, youth justice services and local authorities.

I believe that feeling safe, heard and understood is at the heart of therapy. I offer a warm, supportive space where you can share your story, explore what matters to you and move at a pace that feels right for you.

Practice description

I work using an integrative approach, which means I tailor therapy to you rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Being genuinely person-centred is central to my practice. This allows me to work creatively and flexibly, exploring new approaches and focusing on what feels most helpful for you.

My psychotherapy training specialised in working with children and adolescents and included extensive use of creative approaches. I have found that creativity can make it easier for people of any age to express themselves, especially when finding the right words feels difficult.

My training also gives me specialist knowledge of childhood trauma and a deep understanding of human development. This can be particularly helpful when working with adults, as our early experiences may continue to influence how we see ourselves and relate to others. I am also mindful of how intergenerational trauma may be shaped by culture, socioeconomic pressures and the environments in which we live.

Additionally, I have in-depth knowledge of substance use and co-dependency in relationships. Alongside working as a specialist in this area, I have taught the subject to trainee psychotherapists.

My first session

Once you have sent me an enquiry, we will arrange a phone call or video call. This provides you with an opportunity to ask me any questions and get a sense of how we might work together.

Please note this initial phone conversation is not charged and lasts up to 15 minutes.

First individual session - I will provide a brief introduction in to the process of therapy and what you can expect from sessions, including the therapy agreement. It is also helpful for me to understand your reason for seeking therapy and any personal history that feels relevant at this point. We can begin to identify together what areas you may want to explore further.

There really is no set way of doing therapy, every client is different and we will take it a session at a time as we get to know each other.
