About me and my therapy practice
I’m Nicky (they/she), an Integrative Counsellor and Somatic Sexologist offering trauma-informed therapy.
I have six years' experience as a therapist in my area of expertise. My approach brings together my Person-Centred counselling degree with professional qualifications in Somatic Sexology and embodied therapeutic work.
Areas I work with include:
- Sexual trauma, rape and childhood sexual abuse
- LGBTQIA+ experiences, sexuality and coming out later in life
- Transgender and gender-diverse experiences, gender identity and exploration
- Sex, desire, pleasure and sexual shame
- Kink/BDSM, polyamory and relationship diversity
- Chemsex, substance use, dependency and addiction
- Anxiety, depression and emotional distress
- Suicidal thoughts, suicidal ideation and self-harm
- Family estrangement, rejection and relationship breakdown
- Grief, relationship changes and life transitions
- Intimacy, relationships and sexual difficulties
- Boundaries, consent and people-pleasing
- Freeze, shutdown and disconnection from the body
- Neurodivergence, identity and relationships
- Self-trust, self-worth and repeating patterns
My practice is GSRD (Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity) affirming, sex-positive and informed by anti-oppressive principles. You don’t need to make yourself, your sexuality or your relationships more conventional or palatable to bring them into therapy.
I don’t believe therapy is about fixing you. Many of the patterns we struggle with developed as ways of creating safety or maintaining connection. We can explore these with curiosity rather than judgement.
I work primarily online with occasional in-person sessions in Cranbrook, Kent.
Practice description
I offer a welcoming, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is happening in your life, including things you may have found difficult to share elsewhere.
My approach is collaborative and led by you. We can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences through talking, and where helpful, bring in somatic work to notice what's happening in your body too.
You don't need to know exactly what you want to work on or where to begin. We'll take things at your pace, and there's no pressure to share anything before you're ready.
I offer weekly sessions, primarily online via Zoom with occasional in-person appointments in Cranbrook, Kent.
Sessions are approximately 50 minutes and cost £75. I also offer a free 30 minute consultation so we can discuss what you're looking for and see whether working together feels right.
My first session
Before beginning therapy, I offer a free 30 minute consultation. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what is bringing you to therapy, what you’re looking for from our work and whether we feel we may be a good fit.
If you decide you’d like to continue, I’ll send you a short history form and our therapy agreement to read and complete before our first session.
Your first session is the beginning of our therapeutic work and an opportunity for us to start getting to know each other and explore what feels most important to you.
There is no expectation that you disclose your whole history in the first session.
Particularly when working with trauma or experiences that feel difficult to talk about, building trust and a sense of safety within the therapeutic relationship is part of the work. We will move at a pace that feels manageable for you.
