About me and my therapy practice
Taking the first step towards counselling isn't always easy. You might be experiencing anxiety, feeling low, struggling with a relationship, or finding that things don't feel quite right. Sometimes, you may not even be sure what's troubling you or where to begin.
I'm Ben, a qualified integrative counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I offer online counselling for adults across the UK, providing a warm, supportive and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences without fear of judgement.
I believe that feeling genuinely heard, understood and accepted can make a meaningful difference. My role isn't to tell you what to do or make decisions for you, but to work alongside you as we explore the difficulties you're facing.
My approach is integrative, with Person-Centred counselling at its heart. This means understanding your experiences from your perspective, without judgement or assumptions about how you should think, feel or behave.
I also draw upon Psychodynamic thinking, recognising that past experiences and relationships can influence how we feel, respond and relate to others today.
Together, we can explore patterns in your relationships, difficult emotions, or experiences that continue to affect you. Equally, you may need somewhere to talk through what's happening in the present.
There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what you want to discuss. We can work together to understand what feels important to you.
Counselling can be short-term or longer-term, depending on your needs and what we agree together. We can discuss what you hope to gain and review our progress along the way.
If you're considering counselling, you're welcome to get in touch with any questions or arrange a free 15-minute introductory consultation.
Practice description
I offer individual online counselling for adults aged 18 and over across the UK, with appointments available during evenings and weekends.
Sessions take place via secure video call, allowing you to access counselling from a private, comfortable space without needing to travel.
I offer a free 15-minute introductory consultation, giving us an opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have and consider whether working together feels right for you.
If you decide to proceed, our initial session will provide an opportunity to explore your reasons for seeking counselling, discuss what you hope to gain from our work and agree how we will work together.
Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £50.
I recognise that everyone's experience of counselling is different. Some people arrive with a particular difficulty they want to address, while others need time to understand what they're experiencing.
There is no expectation that you know exactly what to say or where to begin. We can work at your pace, regularly reviewing how counselling is progressing and whether it continues to meet your needs.
I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, depending on your individual circumstances and what we agree together.
My first session
Before beginning counselling, I offer a free 15-minute introductory consultation. This provides an opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling, answer any initial questions and consider whether working together feels right for you.
If you decide to proceed, our first full appointment will be a 50-minute initial assessment, charged at my standard rate of £50.
This session allows us to explore your circumstances, the difficulties you're experiencing and what you hope to gain from counselling. I also use brief questionnaires, including the GAD-7 and PHQ-9, to help establish a starting point for our work and review progress over time.
We'll discuss confidentiality, practical arrangements and how we might work together.
If we agree on an initial block of counselling sessions, the assessment appointment is separate and does not count towards those sessions.
