About me and my therapy practice
My work is rooted in helping people better know themselves and live life more on their own terms.
A calm, person-to-person connection will be our starting point. From there, we might make sense of difficult parts of your past, pressures in your day-to-day life, or what you want or need next.
We’ll go at your pace. I’ll be alongside you with curiosity and a real interest in understanding you and helping you understand yourself. Together, we can work towards stronger connections with yourself and others, greater acceptance or finding ways to create change in your life.
Much of my work is around identity and shame. This can involve discovering and affirming who you are, separate from who you think you should be. It may mean beginning to let go of expectations placed on you by others, or becoming more compassionate towards parts of yourself you’ve struggled to accept, or that others haven’t accepted. For some, these themes may also relate to queer or LGBTQIA+ experiences.
I’ve worked with people around:
- Anxiety
- Self-worth
- Identity exploration
- Sexuality
- Shame
- Relationships
- Stress and burnout
- Values and motivations
- Grief and loss
- Abuse
- Body image
- Feeling stuck
Please get in touch and we can see if we might be a good fit.
Practice description
More about how I work:
I’m a relational, person-centred therapist. This means our connection and collaboration will be an important part of the work we do together, hopefully helping you feel understood and able to speak openly. We’ll be led by your experiences and what matters to you, at a pace that feels right for you.
I’m trained in integrative counselling and psychotherapy, so I also draw on different therapeutic ideas and approaches depending on what you bring to our sessions. This might include looking at questions of identity, meaning and values from an existential perspective, or making sense of how earlier experiences may have shaped your feelings, expectations and relationship patterns.
Where I work:
My therapy room is on the ground floor of a shared building in Sheffield. The building has step-free access, accessible toilets and free parking.
My first session
If you like, we can begin with a free 20 minute video call. This lets you ask any questions and get a sense of whether we might be a good fit before you commit.
If you'd like to go ahead with me, our regular sessions will last 50 minutes.
Our first session will be about helping you feel as comfortable and informed as possible. I’ll go through what you can expect from me, including how I work with professional boundaries and confidentiality. You can ask any questions or share your first thoughts about what you’d like to get from therapy.
