Availability
I am currently welcoming new clients for counselling.
My regular counselling days are Mondays and Wednesdays, with daytime and evening appointments available by arrangement.
I offer a free 15-minute introductory telephone call, giving us an opportunity to have a brief conversation, discuss what you're looking for and see whether working together feels right.
If you'd like to arrange an introductory call or enquire about availability, please get in touch. I'll aim to respond within two working days.
I look forward to hearing from you.
About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Harv, a qualified integrative counsellor offering counselling for adults.
Life can be complicated, and sometimes it's difficult to make sense of what we're feeling or why we're feeling it. We might be struggling in a relationship, going through a period of change, feeling anxious or overwhelmed, or finding ourselves caught in patterns that seem to keep repeating.
Sometimes we know exactly what's troubling us. Other times, we just know something doesn't feel right.
I believe having someone who really listens, without judgement or expectations, can make a difference. Someone who takes the time to understand your world rather than telling you how you should live in it.
My approach is warm, open and down-to-earth. I value honesty, kindness and genuine human connection, and I believe the relationship we build together is at the heart of good counselling.
I'm an integrative counsellor, which means I don't believe one approach fits everyone. My work is rooted in Person-Centred counselling, while also drawing on Psychodynamic and Gestalt approaches. In everyday terms, this means we can explore what's happening for you now, how earlier experiences may have shaped you, and the ways you experience yourself and your relationships.
My role is to work alongside you, helping you find greater understanding and clarity in a very human way.
Practice description
I work with adults who may be experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, relational difficulties, loss, changes in their lives or struggles with confidence and self-worth.
You might find it difficult to express how you feel, struggle to understand your reactions, or notice yourself repeating behaviours or relationship patterns that leave you feeling frustrated or unhappy.
Perhaps you've spent a long time putting other people's needs before your own, or you've reached a point where you're questioning what you want from life.
Whatever brings you to counselling, you don't need to have everything worked out before we begin.
Our sessions are your space. We can talk about what's happening in your life now, explore experiences from your past, or simply begin with whatever feels most important to you.
I may gently invite you to look at things from another perspective, notice patterns or explore feelings that haven't always had room to be expressed. But I won't push you towards decisions or tell you what you should do.
I believe counselling works best when you feel comfortable enough to be yourself, including the parts of yourself you might find difficult to share.
I offer individual online sessions lasting 50 minutes, usually at the same time each week. We can work together for a shorter period or longer term, depending on your needs, and regularly review how things are going.
My aim is for you to feel heard, respected and supported as you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and what matters to you.
My first session
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel a little daunting, particularly if you've never spoken to a therapist before. It's completely understandable to have questions or feel unsure about where to begin.
That's why I offer a free 15-minute introductory telephone call.
It's simply an opportunity for us to have a conversation. You can tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions you might have and get a feel for whether I'm someone you'd be comfortable talking to.
It also gives me an opportunity to consider whether I'm the right counsellor to support you.
There's no pressure or obligation to book anything afterwards. It's important that working together feels right for both of us.
If we decide to go ahead, we'll arrange your first 50-minute online session.
In that first session, we'll take a little more time to understand what's happening in your life, what you'd like support with and what you might hope to gain from counselling.
We'll also talk through confidentiality, how our sessions will work and the practical arrangements, so you know what to expect.
You won't be expected to share your whole life story or talk about anything you're not ready to explore.
We can take things at a pace that feels right for you.
Sessions are 50 minutes, with a fee confirmed before booking. The introductory 15-minute telephone call is free.
