About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, I’m Dawn an experienced and qualified integrative & trauma informed counsellor and clinical supervisor and a registered member of the BACP. I am also trained in online and telephone counselling.

I work with adults in an integrative way combining Humanistic, Psychodynamic and CBT approaches as this fits my own philosophy of not one approach fits all.

I aim to provide you with a warm, compassionate, confidential counselling relationship within a safe therapeutic space where you can talk freely about what is troubling you and explore the challenges you are currently facing.

Together we might look at your patterns of behaviour, thinking around behaviours and early childhood or past experiences and how these may be impacting on you in the here and now and the way you relate to self and others.

Counselling is not about me giving you advice or guidance. It is an opportunity for you to express and explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and experiences in a safe environment where you feel valued, heard and understood and for us to look at all the options that may be open to you to deal with your concerns more effectively.

Practice description

My private practice is based in Enfield within easy access by car, train or bus.

If you are unable to attend in-person I can offer counselling either online or by telephone.

If you would prefer counselling sessions in the comfort of your own home environment, I may be able to offer this within a 1-2 mile radius of my private practice setting.

I may also be able to provide counselling sessions outdoors local to my private practice setting during the daytime.

My first session

I offer a free initial 30 minute introductory session either online or by telephone with no obligation to continue.

If we both decide to proceed, I will invite you to attend a 50 minute assessment session and send you a copy of the counselling agreement in advance of the booked assessment appointment.

The assessment session fee is £50 and you can decide if you would like to attend this session online or by telephone.

During the assessment session you can share what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to achieve through the counselling process as well as ask me any questions you may have. I will also ask you some questions to get a better understanding of your concerns and how these may be impacting on your everyday life, relationships and wellbeing.

The assessment session is also an opportunity for you to decide if you would like to continue counselling with me and for me to ensure I am the right therapist to sufficiently meet your needs or if a referral to a different type of therapist or service would be more appropriate.

About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, I’m Dawn an experienced qualified integrative & trauma informed counsellor and clinical supervisor and a registered member of the BACP. I provide supervision to both qualified and trainee counsellors.

I'm trained in online and telephone counselling and also hold a Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision including Online and Telephone Working.

I work in an integrative way combining the Integrative Development Model and the Seven-eyed Model into our supervision work and relationship together.

The integrative supervision approach enables us to collaboratively assess and monitor your developmental needs and growth, the effectiveness of our supervisory work and relationship as well as the effectiveness of the counselling work and relationships with your clients to ensure you maintain safe and ethical practice.

My professional working background has predominately been within mental health services. I have also worked at a college as a Health & Social Care and Counselling lecturer and within the NHS as a Social Prescriber.
