About me and my therapy practice

Perhaps you are feeling anxious, overwhelmed or simply not quite yourself. You may be struggling with relationships, loss or change, or finding that you are much harder on yourself than you would ever be on someone else.

You don't need to arrive at therapy knowing exactly what is wrong or what you want to change. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where we can make sense of what is happening for you, at a pace that feels manageable.

My approach is person-centred and I also integrate Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), which can be particularly helpful with anxiety, low mood, shame, self-criticism and low self-worth.

I have a particular interest in supporting women through perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause, including changes in anxiety, confidence, mood, relationships and sense of self.

I bring over 20 years' experience in mental health, including the NHS, mental health charities and private practice. I hold an MSc in Advanced Counselling and Psychotherapy and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology.

My background in mindfulness, breathwork and yoga also informs my understanding of the connection between our emotional and physical experiences.

Most importantly, therapy isn't about me telling you how you should feel or what you should do. We work together to help you understand yourself with greater compassion and find your own way forward.

I offer a free 15–20 minute introductory conversation so that we can see how it feels to talk together before you decide whether you would like to begin therapy.

Practice description

I currently offer counselling online via Zoom, allowing you to attend therapy from the privacy and comfort of your own space.

I work with adults and offer both shorter-term and longer-term therapy, depending on your individual needs. Some people come to counselling with a particular difficulty they would like to explore, while others value a longer-term therapeutic relationship where they can gradually understand deeper patterns and experiences.

My approach is collaborative and led by you. We can talk together about what you hope to gain from therapy and regularly consider how our work is feeling and whether it continues to be helpful.

I predominantly work online, although face-to-face sessions in Manchester may occasionally be available by prior arrangement.

My first session

I understand that contacting a therapist for the first time can feel daunting, particularly if you have never experienced counselling before or have had a difficult experience of therapy in the past.

Before booking your first counselling session, I offer a free 15–20 minute telephone conversation. There is no obligation to continue afterwards.

This gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what has brought you to therapy, ask any questions you may have and get a sense of me and the way I work. It also gives us both an opportunity to consider whether working together feels like a good fit.

If we decide to continue, our first full session is simply the beginning of getting to know one another. You won't be expected to tell me everything at once. We will work at a pace that feels right for you.
