About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified counsellor and trauma therapist based in Woodley, Reading. My private practice based at my home is walking distance from Earley train station and approximately 4 miles from junction 10 of the M4.

I have experience working with clients aged from 10 years upwards addressing a range of issues. Come to counselling and you will experience a confidential space in which you can share and explore any aspect of your life. There may be a particular issue that needs resolving, or there may be underlying feelings of emptiness, sadness or confusion about life. I create a trusting relationship in which you will feel the freedom to fully explore yourself and your world view. Counselling is a journey during which you may experience greater awareness of yourself, the world around you and the choices available to you. Relationships are often where we experience the most hurt, but equally they can be the vehicle for a great deal of healing leading to a more enriched way of life and a renewed sense of freedom.

With lived experience as both a parent and partner to neurodivergent individuals, I bring personal insight and a neuro-affirming perspective to all aspects of my work. I'm dedicated to creating a space where LGBTQIA+ individuals feel seen, valued and empowered to live authentically and thrive.

Practice description

I have been working in private practice for the past 16 years alongside experience working in the criminal justice system, education, attachment, trauma and adoption.

As well as offering talking therapy, I trained in EMDR. EMDR is a therapy that helps you to process and recover from difficult or traumatic past experiences that may be impacting your well-being or mental health. EMDR therapy helps the mind to heal from psychological trauma enabling individuals to move on and live a more fulfilling life. EMDR is effective in treating trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, phobias and many other mental health issues.

My first session

During the first session I will need to take some general information about you and we will need to discuss your reasons for coming to counselling, whether you have had any previous experience of counselling, what support networks you have in place and what you hope to achieve from our work together. It is important that you feel I am the right counsellor for you and that you feel comfortable with me in my therapy room.

Sessions last between 50 minutes - 90 minutes and generally take place on a weekly basis. You decide what you want to bring to the sessions. The price is £70 per session, unless otherwise agreed. EMDR sessions are charged between £80-£100 depending on the length of session, which will be agreed together.

Making the decision to come to counselling can provoke feelings of anxiety and it may take time for you to feel able to trust me. As with any relationship, it takes time to build.
