About me and my therapy practice

Since beginning with clients in 2010 I've integrated a person-centred approach with transactional analysis - this has a very relational feel which can move directly towards the middle of things.

Together we create a relational environment which is supportive of personal growth.

My aim is to attune empathically to your own personal & direct experience of whatever these challenges are that you're facing right now.

A part of you that knows 'This can't go on' or 'Something's up' is seeking, and has brought you this far. This part of you believes in you, just as I do. The difficult bit is over. I would say, contact me - let's see how we might work together.

Practice description

I offer to meet individual clients for one-hours sessions, and couples for 90 minute sessions. Initially we might agree to meet weekly in order to build a therapeutic alliance, a 'working relationship'.

As our work unfolds it may be more effective to meet less frequently, say fortnightly, as a way to walk with you on your growthful path, to support you on your ongoing journey.

The section 'What I can help with' below can never be a complete list of the challenging experiences I've worked with. Instead, I added the areas of concern I seem to be working with most.

Again, there are lots more details on my website.

My first session

To begin, I offer to set up an introductory session (without fee) to begin exploring and see how each of us feels.

This is like an 'assessment' but not in a formal way - I'll be asking myself 'Can I be of genuine help in this situation?' and I guess you might be assessing e.g. 'Do I want to do more?' or 'Is this the right person to be working with?' etc.

Towards the end of this first session I'll offer some ideas of how I believe I can help, or ideas about other ways you might want to explore.

And, at the end of our first session, it's OK for you to take time to reflect on what we've discussed then get back in touch to arrange further sessions if that's what you choose.
