Availability
Hello, and thank you for visiting.
I am a full-time, neurodiversity-affirming counsellor and psychotherapist with over 18 years’ experience, working with adults and young adults (18+) in Leicester. I offer counselling and psychotherapy using psychodynamic, Jungian, CBT, solution-focused and person-centred approaches, as well as relationship and couples counselling.
I work with people who feel anxious, low, overwhelmed or stuck, as well as those who feel different, isolated or not fitting in. I have supported clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, low self-esteem, night terrors and relationship difficulties, through my work in a charity, a local university and private practice.
I offer short-term counselling and open-ended psychotherapy. Longer-term work explores childhood experiences, trauma, attachment patterns, dreams and recurring relational difficulties. I am a certified trauma specialist and neuro-affirming autism specialist, with a particular interest in childhood trauma and developmental issues.
I also work with couples (18+), regardless of sexuality or gender identity, struggling with connection, communication or intimacy, including the effects of trauma or infidelity.
Appointments are available Monday to Friday, 10:00–20:00, face to face in Aylestone or online. Reduced fees are available, and I offer a free 30-minute telephone consultation. I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.
About me and my therapy practice
My approach to therapy is thoughtful, relational and integrative, shaped by over 18 years’ experience. I provide a calm, safe and collaborative space where you can explore your experiences at a pace that feels right for you.
I work in a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed way, recognising difference rather than deficit, and adapting my approach to suit each individual. I offer short-term counselling and longer-term psychotherapy, drawing on CBT, solution-focused, person-centred, psychodynamic and Jungian approaches.
I have a particular interest in childhood trauma, developmental issues and the personality adaptation spectrum. With couples, I provide an inclusive, non-blaming space to explore communication, attachment, intimacy and the impact of past experiences.
Above all, I work at your pace, with trust and emotional safety at the centre. Therapy is about understanding, integration and meaningful change, not fixing or labelling.
Practice description
When you come to therapy with me, you can expect to be met with respect, warmth and genuine curiosity about who you are and what has brought you to seek support. I aim to offer a calm, reliable and non-judgemental space where you feel safe enough to speak openly, including about thoughts or feelings that may feel confusing, painful or difficult to put into words.
I work collaboratively, which means therapy is something we do together rather than something done to you. I will listen carefully, reflect thoughtfully and, where helpful, offer gentle observations or questions to support deeper understanding. I do not rush the process, and I work at a pace that feels manageable for you, particularly where trauma or neurodivergence are part of your experience.
You can expect consistency, clear boundaries and a professional therapeutic relationship grounded in trust. I will adapt my way of working to your needs, whether you are seeking short-term support for a specific difficulty or longer-term psychotherapy to explore deeper patterns and experiences.
Therapy with me is not about fixing or changing who you are, but about understanding yourself more fully, developing self-compassion and finding ways of living that feel more authentic, connected and sustainable.
My first session
An initial consultation offers you the opportunity to get a sense of whether I feel like the right therapist for you. This is a relaxed, informal conversation, usually by telephone, where you can share a little about what has led you to seek therapy and ask any questions you may have. There is no obligation to commit to ongoing sessions. The aim is simply to help you decide whether you feel comfortable speaking with me and whether my way of working feels appropriate for your needs.
If you choose to book a face-to-face consultation, this first session allows us to begin exploring your concerns in more depth. We will talk about what is currently troubling you, any relevant background or previous experiences of therapy, and what you are hoping for from our work together. I will also explain practical matters such as confidentiality, boundaries and how sessions are structured.
Ongoing sessions provide a consistent, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace. Sessions are collaborative and tailored to you, whether you are seeking short-term support or longer-term psychotherapy. Throughout the process, I aim to work in a way that feels safe, respectful and containing, allowing understanding and change to develop naturally over time.
